My father kissed my forehead and let me rest in my room. I could feel my phone blow up on my nightstand, but I couldn't bring myself to talk to anyone.

"Someone's here for you Madame." Rosie, our housekeeper said softly. Her loving smile always made her so motherly to me. "Who is it Rosie?" I ask getting up from my bed after a walking up from a deep sleep. She gave me an apologetic smile, and I didn't have to hear the name to know. "It's okay Rosie. I got it." I say before she could tell me.

The Next Morning:

I look at him sitting on my couch, his uneasiness sensible even from our distance. Once he saw me coming down the stairs, he quickly got up from his seat and ran to me. His body collided into mine as he wraps his arms around me. I felt his heart beating, but it was not enough to warm up mine. I kept my arm on my side as he pulled away, his face looking completely ashamed. "I'm sorry." He said. I held my hand up, "No James. I don't want to hear it. Just like the way you didn't hear me out when you left me for Sarah. I don't want to see you. Like you wanted, this engagement is over."

He looked at me in shock and confusion. "Babe..." He attempted to say. "NO. Do not call me that." I say angry. Who the hell was he calling Babe? Sarah isn't here. "Get out of my house." I bark in anger, my voice beginning to shake as I lose my composure. "Naddie..." He said grasping my hand. My eyebrows furrow, as I look at him hand in mine. It felt so right, yet it made me feel weak. "James... I'm tired. Please leave me alone. This is the last time you are permitted to come to my house." I warn him.

A booming voice from the upstairs' hallway said, "JAMES." My father had awoken and in his voice you could hear his disapproval of James's presence in the house. "Mr. Lustre, I just wanted to say I'm sorry and that I made a mistake." James explained in one breath. My father's fists were balled up; his anger was about to overflow. "How dare you replace... no. Cheat on my daughter like that. And allow her to be in harms way with the woman who you had been unfaithful with. You are not good enough for my daughter, and cannot be trusted. Tell your parents that we too, approve of the ending of your engagement." My father said with the business voice he uses when he spoke to strangers. "You are no longer part of this family. We are only strictly business and nothing more. You can find your way out of the house." He continued.

"Please Mr. Lustre hear me out. I'm sorry. Nadine did something that angered me and I acted out of impulse." James said frantically. "Which part? When you left her on the street? When she got into an accident from heartbreak? Or the part where she was attacked by your girlfriend? TELL ME JAMES?" My father asked, yelling in complete hatred. "Mr. Lustre... I love Nadine. I'm sorry." James apologized crying. His tears made me pity him, but my heart could not believe what he was saying. "If this is your form of love, it is something my daughter does not need. Now get out of my house or I will have you removed." My father said coldly.

James looked at me hoping for me to defend him, but I couldn't. James walked out of my house with his head down. "Thanks dad." I said smiling at him. "I think it's time people know who the company's successor is going to be." My father said looking at me happily. "You're right." I say happily to my dad. Wanting to be a normal girl was no longer something I wanted. I want to show them all what I was capable of as the sole successor to Lustre Industries. There really was only one person I wanted to destroy... And her name was Sarah.

A Week Later:

After the magazine spread was released, which had my face printed on it as the only child of Lustre Industries, I walked to my school with my head held high. I could hear the chatter about me spread from hallway to hallway. "Hey..." Eli greeted normally. "I saw the spread, your name has been coming out of everyone's mouth." He praised. "By the way... what you're wearing. You look... wow." He continued. "Thanks." I said with s smile. Instead of my normal converse, I opted for heels, which I never wear in school.

As I confidently walk the halls to class with Eli, I see Sarah standing by the door anxiously. Her eyes instantly find me and I could feel her stare. "Hi." I said smiling, "When I said your sinking company... I knew that your family tried to reach out to MY family company for help." I say. I watch her fist turn into a ball and I did not flinch at all. She couldn't touch me. "We don't need your stupid company." She hissed. I let out a laugh, "Then I better not see your name come up in the pile of companies BEGGING to partner up with mine." I warn, my smile no longer on my face as I brush passed her to enter the room.

"Nadine." James said getting up from his seat and raising his arms up to hug me. "James." I said, his arms fell to his side when he heard the tone of my voice. I took my seat and I can hear the chattering, my name leaving everyone's mouth. It felt sickening, before the news of my wealth was known, they all made fun of me and called me names. Now, they are all a bunch of two faced people who want to be "friends" with me.  The real fight was just starting, I'm just waiting for the snake to try and bite me.
