I woke up to T-dog and Dale talking outside. I could hear Dale saying he had fixed the RV, but he didn't want anyone to know because he wanted to make sure we didn't leave without Sophia. T-dog understood and went along with it. I grunted as I sat up and stretched. My ankle was sore and even more swollen than it was yesterday. Must have been all the running I did last night. My back ached, I reached under my shirt and realized someone had bandaged my back while I was asleep. There were some slippers on the ground that someone had left for me, along with a note. It read:

Ellie, here are some slippers I found for you. I figured it would be better to wear these since your ankle won't fit in your boots. I also bandaged you up a bit. Thank you for trying to find my Sophia. -Carol

I smile and put the slippers on. I scrunch my toes at how soft and comfortable the slippers feel. Carol was a sweet lady. I should go thank her. I walked outside, squinting as the bright sunlight hit my eyes. "She lives!" T-dog exclaims as he walks over to me. I chuckle, "How's your arm T-dog?" I look down towards his arm. He shrugs, "Been better." I look up to see Dale standing on top of the RV and I wave to him, "Where is everyone?" He points out to the woods, "They're out looking for Sophia." I look over to the trees. I hope they find you Sophia. I walk over to the pile of food and drinks that are on the floor. My stomach rumbles. I put my hands to my tummy and sigh as my mouth waters for a bag of pretzels on the ground. "Go ahead and grab something, I won't tell." Dale calls out from behind me. He had some tools in his hand and he was headed over to a car. I look back at the bag, "I shouldn't. We should feed the kids first." Dale chuckles, "Ellie, it's fine. One small bag won't hurt anyone." I frown a bit, "...but what if it does? What if this bag of pretzels determines whether one of us starves or not." T-dog walks over to me, sweat dripping down his face. He grabs the bag of pretzels and opens them, then he turns to me and puts them in my hands, "Here. Just eat them." I can't help but feel guilty as I look down at the bag. I turn around and say, "Fine. I'll eat some, but we have to share. There's enough in here for us three." Dale has the hood of a car open and he's taking out parts. He smiles and nods, "I won't say no to that!" I chuckle as I pour pretzels into his hand. I turn to look at T-dog, "T-dog, here have some pretzels." He stares at me and shakes his head, "Nah, not very hungry." Dale stops munching on his pretzels and looks at me then at T-dog. He grabs a small clot and wipes his forehead, "T-dog, how are you feeling?" T-dog just stares at him, nods his head and continues walking. Dale furrows his brows together in concern. He picks up his rifle and walks over to T-dog, "T-dog? I asked you how you were feeling just now. Please don't blow that question off."

I put a pretzel in my mouth as I stand back and watch them. T-dog sighs, "It really really hurts. It's throbbing something awful." Dale carefully grabs T-dog's arm and lifts up the bandage, he gasps at the sight of the injury. He must have touched the cut because T-dog screamed in pain, "Ahh! Don't touch it. Don't touch it." Dale lets go of his arm, "Sorry. Sorry. Listen to me, your veins are very discolored. You got a hell of an infection there. You could die from blood poisoning." I munch on another pretzel and turn around to limp back to the RV. Once I'm inside I  look around. Where's the antibiotic cream from last night? I look on the table. Nothing. I search in the bathroom. Nothing. I decide to check in one of the kitchen drawers. "Aha. There you are." I walk back outside as T-dog and Dale are walking around looking inside cars. I walk over to Dale and give him the cream, "They used this for my back yesterday. I'm not sure if it'll help." Dale smiles and brings me into a hug, "We'll just have to try. Thank you Ellie. Want to help us look for medicine? Anything useful really." I nod, "Sure." I walk over to a little small black car. I open the door and look inside the glove compartment. "Well, no medicine. Maybe Carl will like this." I mumble as I put what I found in one my belt loops. I turn around to look in the backseats. Nothing else here. I get out of the car and flinch in pain from my back. I walk over to another car and look inside. I find nothing but a closed bottle of water and receipt papers. I open the bottle of water and drink some, "Ugh. Hot water." About an hour passes and I have searched a few more cars, but found nothing worth saving. I started walking back to the RV. Maybe Dale or T-dog had better luck. The sun wasn't as hot as before, but with me wearing a long-sleeve I was burning up. I got back to the RV to find Dale giving T-dog some medicine. "Ellie, he has a fever. I gave him some ibuprofen, would you like some?" I looked at T-dog, he was panting and sweating buckets. "Is there enough?" I asked. Dale shook the container, "It's pretty full. Here take some, it'll help with your pain." He put some in my hand and handed me a bottle of water. "Thanks." I said as I put one pill in my mouth and took a swig of water. I put the rest in my pocket for future reference. Dale walks back over to the RV, "I'll be up on top." he says as he climbs the ladder. T-dog walks over to a car and lays down inside of it. I open the RV door and walk inside, "Guess I'll be in here."
