Things continued to be awkward and tense between me and Ivy for the next few days. Before I could even tell her about Wyatt I had to get on better terms with her again. How? Not a damn clue.
"Those were his literal words? He's not coming back? He's done what he needed to do?" Natasha asked skeptically. Natasha, Wyatt, Matt and I had taken a change of scenery, deciding to walk in the forest this time instead of vegging on Natasha's parents couch. We could only sit there so often and hope her parents didn't get seriously disturbed by our conversations.
"Apparently. Which makes absolutely no sense. Unless he's cutting Joe out of the plan now that hes gotten closer to Ivy and started to ruin things," I said harshly, thinking of her attitude towards me since her and Dom's non-date.
Natasha's eyebrow rose and even Wyatt cast me a slightly surprised look.
"Ruin what?" Matt asked.
"Ivy. Me. Ivy's been so...so..." I struggled to find the right word. "I dont know. She just seems so angry? Resentful. There's something about her that feels wrong lately. The way she looks at me and talks..."
"Well she's frustrated. She wants answers Lila and you're not giving them to her. No wonder she's angry with you," Matt said, brushing me off. "Even the other night she was telling me about it. Even if she doesn't know anything she'd like to know why you can't tell her at least. So she can understand why its taking you so long."
"You guys talked about me?" I asked, alarmed. That was the first he mentioned of it.
He flushed now, looking wary. "Sort of. She kept asking me questions. About you and Wyatt and why he flipped from nice to not so nice. And Caleb too. But I didn't tell her anything. She dropped it and apologized for asking but still. She's really frustrated with you and that was obvious."
"I get that but why? It happened so suddenly. She was always peeved at me but ever since she went out with Dom..." I clenched my fist. "He must have said something to her. When she got home she was really angry and wouldn't tell me why."
"Devin must have told him something that he passed along to her," Wyatt said, face screwed up as he thought. "Maybe he talked about Caleb? Mentioned something that happened back then that made Ivy question you? If he told her something we did that wasn't very nice..."
I stopped walking, heart in my throat. "You dont think...you dont think he told her? Do you?" Panic welled up inside me as I turned to Natasha. "He couldn't have told her about me killi-"
"No!" Natasha said quickly, quickly reassuring me. "He wouldn't. Not this early in the game. He needs to get her to trust him first before he tries a bomb that big."
I tried to calm down, tried to convince myself she was right, but I felt sick to my stomach at the thought of Ivy knowing I murdered Caleb. Without even giving me a chance to explain or defend myself.
"Honestly Lila I dont think so either. She said yesterday that she didn't understand why you wouldn't share your secrets because unless you killed someone she wouldn't care," Matt said quickly, my panic clearly affecting him by his wide eyes and flustered appearance.
"Not helpful!"
"Yes helpful," Wyatt said, grabbing my arm and turning me to him, holding me firm. "If she said that comment so casually its because she doesn't think anything you could have possibly done was that bad. If Dom told her you killed someone she clearly did not believe it. And she never would have brought it up so casually with Matt. Its just a figure of speech. Even IF that's what he told her she doesn't believe it because she knows you."
"Not. Helpful." I said again, shaking my head and I stepped out of his grip. "Because I did do it. Her trust in me is nothing because I did kill him. So even if he told her and she didn't believe it, she'll be even more betrayed when she knows. And if he did tell her then she must have believed it to some degree because shes acting like she hates me."
