Ivy POV

Dad didn't force me, but I knew it was time to go back to living my life and figure out what this new chapter of it would look like. I went back to school, going to class, doing my homework, cleaning my room, doing my chores, and added going hunting with Wyatt, as well as Lila and Matt by association too, to my regular routine.

Things were so mundane. After such an extraordinary amount of things happened in such a short time, to be dropped right back into regular day to day life was bizarrely surreal in so many ways even though it was oddly comforting. If ill fitting. Shouldn't I be wrecked? Broken beyond repair? Struggling to get out of bed every day?

Even if every morning I woke up reliving that nightmare, I still got up and got ready for school. Rode the bus with Lila, started walking to class with Lila or Matt or Wyatt or Blake. Having lunch with everyone. Teachers gave me pitying looks and told me not to worry about assignments, offered their condolences for my loss, but it felt like those sweet words were meant for someone more deserving of them.

It felt like the world should have ended, yet life moved on as if nothing had happened even though everything had changed so completely.

It was the first week after Joe's funeral when Wyatt invited me over to his house with all the other vampires. It was also the same day that he planned to tell them all about his relationship with Lila; she was doing the same today with her pack.

I'd already gone through at least four different outfit changes this morning, which amused Lila to no end because, as she pointed out, she and Wyatt were the ones dropping a bomb today and should be the nervous ones.

Even though I'd hung out with them before, I'd never really hung out with them in a pre-planned way, just the five of us vamps together outside of a school setting. I did appreciate that they had all come to Joe's funeral, but again, we were all mixed together with Lila's pack and my grandma was there and my dad and Dom and there was also the fact that it was a funeral, so it wasn't the same. I was tempted to bring Lila with me today for moral support, but that would probably look silly, and she had her own pack to deal with.

Dad seemed pretty happy that I was going out. I could tell he was a little confused by the fact that I was suddenly hanging out with Wyatt, when all this time it had been Lila and Wyatt being suspiciously close, but I think Dad was just relieved I wasn't rotting in bed grieving that he was willing to overlook it. He was more than happy to drop me off at Wyatt's house and Lila at Dakota's house, which were close by to each other.

The most Dad questioned was whether or not we would all be meeting up later, but neither of us knew for sure so we told him we'd text him later if our plans changed. Judging by the way Lila gave me an apprehensive look, I wasn't so sure all of us hanging out after they shared the good news of their relationship would be a good idea.

I got dropped off first, so I was treated to the sight of Wyatt waving to Lila still in the car with that lovestruck look on his face as they left.

"It's a miracle no one has figured it out yet when you look like that every time she's around," I teased, waving along with him until my dad finally drove off, Lila poking her head out the passenger window to keep waving and blowing us kisses as long as she could.

"Thankfully, their own feelings on the subject seem to have clouded their ability to tell my own feelings," he said, ushering me inside.

I shed my coat and unlaced my boots, taking a look around the entryway. "Am I the first one here?"

"Nah, Blake beat you here by ten minutes. Come on." He led the way through the house and I followed behind, trying not to go too slow as I obviously looked around the entire space.
