Things had become eerily quiet over the weekend. No mention of Joe, Dom, or Devin. Just school and hunting and this restless unease that seemed to be effecting everyone.
The silence was almost worse. Caleb had been frightening because he was always there, around every corner, in every nightmare...Devin did not share this aggressive fear strategy clearly. But at least I knew where Caleb was, what he was doing, what he wanted. It was always so clear. But Devin was a terrifying mystery.
"Have you heard from Joe?" I asked Ivy over breakfast. She seemed as restless as my pack was, as on edge. But also something else too. Quieter.
"Not since he was here," she said softly, and I couldn't figure out how she felt about that.
"Have you tried to get in touch with him?"
She shrugged, stirring soggy bits of uneaten cereal around her bowl. She hadn't eaten much. Not now and not lately. It was worrying, like she was following in my footsteps.
"Do you want too?" I gnawed my lip, hoping for an answer that might quell some of my worries. If she didn't then it would make this sticky situation easier. If she did, well...who knew?
Another shrug. "I'm going to get dressed," she announced, pushing her neglected breakfast away before she stood and headed to her room.
I groaned. This wasnt good, not good at all. We needed more answers about what Devin was up too, what it had to do with Joe and with Ivy. Maybe Joe wasnt all that involved, nor Ivy. Maybe Devin had other completely irrelevant plans.

"Do you think its revenge?" Matt asked over lunch, when I brought up trying to figure out Devin's plan and motives.
"For what?" Mirah asked incredulously. "We only just met him."
"Maybe for murdering his brother? Just a thought," Jared said casually, sipping from his juice box.
As serious as the situation was, Jared slurping on apple juice while discussing murder was a little bit funny and I couldn't help but snicker a little.
"This isn't funny Lila," Matt said, his tone deadly.
"I know that Matt. Jared just looks goofy with his juice box," I assured him. "Besides, if it was revenge for Caleb, why not come right out and say it? I mean Caleb played games but he was mostly straight forward about everything."
"Maybe Devin is a little less dramatic," Dakota said. "Devin seems to be just as clever but hes not going for the same theatrics that Caleb had."
"True," I sighed. "So okay, lets say its revenge...why Ivy? His brother is dead so he's going after my sister? What about Wyatt? Sure I did the deed but Wyatt was still in the picture. And Wyatt killed Caleb the first time. Hes very specifically targeting Ivy."
"He got Wyatt though," Mirah pointed out.
"That wasn't really planned out. Wyatt just happened to be there and Devin took advantage. I think if he was really after Wyatt he would have done something already," Matt cut in before I could. I nodded my agreement as he summed up what I had planned to say anyways.
"So revenge it is then. Problem solved," Jared said, looking unperturbed.
"Problem not solved. How is he going to get revenge? When?" I said firmly.
"Maybe it has to do with that Joe guy," Matt said thoughtfully. "Who is he anyways? I've never heard you mention him before."
All eyes were suddenly on me and I felt myself go red. "No one important."
