Before I Sleep

Everyone has nightmares, sure.

But mine continue to lurk every hour.

I wake up in one.

I walk through the day in one.

But the worst one I have,

Is right before I sleep.

Suddenly, all the stress reappears.

It haunts this waking hour.

All I can think about is everything I've ever done wrong

Or what I'll mess up next.

I can't escape the nightmare,

Before the nightmares that will follow.
