Chapter 19:Dearest Carrie

I went to work early today,I went straight to Carrie's room..Carrie is my favorite patient and also the first one that survived ber sickness..*sigh* I hate that feeling when kids die in front of you..That's why I'm taking care of Carrie very well,so she won't have to suffer like the others did,she's too young to die at the age of 6..

Carrie:Nurse Catherine! You're back!

Kate:Of course I am! Why would I leave you?

Carrie:I thought you would leave me,coz maybe someday I might beeaving you..

Kate: Carrie,Don't say that! You'll get better soon..

Carrie:What did the doctors say,Nurse Catherine?

Those words were coming out of her mouth,everytime I enter her room,It has been bothering me for weeks now..I didn't want to tell Carrie the truth about her deadly condition,I know she'd be hurt,and I didn't want that to happen..So I had to lie to her,Its the only way I know that would make her feel better..

Kate:Y-you're getting better,Carrie! Good job!

Carrie:Yey! I'm getting better,did you hear that mommy? I'm getting better! I could finally go back to school and play with my friends!

Her mom knew the truth about Carrie's condition,she too didn't want ot hurt Carrie,so she just held on to the situation and let out a fake,haunting smile to her lovely daughter..

*sigh* why does this have to happen to me all the time? Why do the children have to die? Why Carrie? Why not me? Carrie has become a friend to me,and I didn't want to lose her,She's the only reason I'm determined to wake uo every morning just to get to work. Now that she's just about to start counting the rest of the days she has to live,what am I supposed to do without her?
