A/N: Yes, the photo is of Cole. I didn't know exactly what else to put, so I figured why not? Anyway, enjoyyyy :D
I wake up just as Arran pulls up to my driveway. I clear my throat and blink a few times. Arran is staring at me, but I don't know what's in his eyes. All I know is it's not pity, and it's not anger. I raise an eyebrow at him.
"What are you looking at?" I ask in a raspy voice.
"You know you snore?" he asks as he grins.
I hit his arm. "I do not!"
"Do too!"
I roll my eyes. "I would know if I snore."
"Mhmm, sure." he chuckles as he gets out of the car. I get out of the car too and together him and I walk up to the front porch.
I open the door and invite Arran in. "Can I get you some coffee or tea?" I ask.
"Nah, I'm good. Thanks though." he says genuinely. I nod.
"Just don't ask me for a drink after I get mine. I offered." I smirk.
"Emma, is that you?" I hear my older brother's voice shout from upstairs.
"Yeah, I'm home!" I shout. I hear his footsteps and then he's downstairs.
His brown hair is short and the front is a little spiked up. His blue eyes are bright and alert, and he's wearing his favorite jacket and jeans. A pretty casual look for him. He's all smiles until he takes one look at Arran. His eyebrow shoots up.
"Um, hello." Cole says.
"Sup."
"Okay, then." He sighs. "Emma, can I have a quick talk with you? In private?"
"Sure thing, Cole." I smile, but when I see the look on his face, I frown. I have the worst feeling that this isn't going to end well.
I follow Cole up the stairs and into his room. The walls are clean and his desk is nice and neat. You'd think it would be messier for a guy, but it's alright.
"Why the hell is the school's bad boy in our kitchen?"
"How do you know he's the bad boy?" I ask.
"Okay, literally it took one look at him Emma. One."
I sigh. He isn't wrong.
"Because he's giving me rides to school and to work."
"Why? Don't you have mom's second car?"
My face pales and Cole gapes at me.
"Oh. My. God! Are you serious right now?"
"I didn't even park by the meter for Christ's sake! I went out, it got towed, and I have to wait a month to get it back!"
Cole gives me the evil eye.
"Don't tell mom!" Is the first thing that comes out of my mouth. Cole looks at me and then laughs.
"Really? You think mom's going to all of a sudden care? She hasn't cared for the past three years, what makes you think she's going to now?"
"Okay, well don't tell dad either!" I say. "I'm going to get it back, and they'll never know about it... right?" I ask.
Cole stares out the window and then groans. "Fine. But you owe me big time."
I sigh in relief. "Whatever you say, Cole."
It's silent for a moment and then Cole talks about the elephant in the room.
"Are you guys dating?"
"No."
Cole looks at me straight in the eye. "Mhmm."
"We aren't!" I shout exasperated.
"Sure, Emma. Let's just get down stairs. I would like to have a witness in case you plan on killing me."
I groan and then we walk down stairs. Arran is sipping on my coffee while reading a newspaper. I walk over to him and hit the back of his head softly. He makes a sound that tells me it somewhat hurt.
"Aye, can't a man enjoy his coffee while reading?" he asks, although I can tell he's trying to hide his smirk.
"Don't touch my coffee. Ever." I say 100% serious. "I will kill a man."
He laughs and sets the coffee down, putting his hands in the air. "Yes ma'am. Understood."
I roll my eyes. "Do you always have to be a smartass Miller?"
He grins. "I dunno. I guess when it comes to you, yes."
I feel my cheeks burn and I quickly turn away.
I feel him before he even touches me. The hair on the back of my neck rises, and his arms are around my waist immediately. I unconsciously lean into his touch. He must have at least a six pack. His chest is so firm and I know he works out. I've seen him take down guys with one punch in a fight. He's strong. He smells super good, and my legs have turned to jelly.
Even though my brain is cursing me out and telling me to move, I stay put, enjoying the silence. All I hear is his soothing heartbeat and his soft breathing. I instinctively wrap my arms around his neck and sigh. I could get used to this for four months. Four months of this would be worth the heartache... right?
Before I can think anymore, I hear a low vibrate. Arran pulls his phone out and then sighs. "I have to go."
"Okay," I murmur. I don't want him to, but I need to pull myself together. I don't want him to know he is affecting me this badly. He kisses my forehead and before I know it, he's gone, leaving me wanting more.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Bad Boy effect.
A/N: Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that my new story is up! It's called "The Bad Boy's Game". Check it out if you'd like! :)
