"Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life."

They were always partners in crime. He was Cautious Cameron and she was Fearless Kirsten. Her snarky attitude always seemed to be enough for the both of them. It had always been that way. Until Cameron had came back from his near death experience.
"I don't want to live in fear anymore, Kirsten." He reminded the blonde. "It's still me, Cameron. 2.0!" When he clearly wasn't still "him".
The blonde shook her head. "No you're not Cameron! You're far from it actually. Since you woke up, we've been locking security in panic rooms, climbing buildings, slugging cops. Nothing you used to do."
"I got a second chance Kirsten! I'm not dead, Kirsten. Aren't you happy I'm not dead?" He questioned. He hoped somewhere deep inside her heart she would say yes. That she thought saving him was worth it, And would do again in a heartbeat.
"If you have to ask me that than you clearly don't know me at all."
"You're right. I don't. You're a complete mystery to me." They had both changed. But it seemed the people they had become weren't fully prepared for anything to this dimension.
"Well at least some things never change." Kirsten grabbed her jacket and headed out the door.
"Kirsten! Where are you going?" The blonde turned around.
"Do you realize how much it pains me to think about the past? How much it hurts?" She asked, tears streaming down her face.
"Then don't think about it!"
"But that's the only place I wanna be. We were kings, Goodkin. It was the only place where you loved me. Truly loved me. The thing is I don't think I can ever get that same person back." She explained. It was hard for her to breathe. Choked sobs became words and she didn't know what to do with them. Cameron Goodkin had ruined her.
"You don't think I care about you? You must be out of your mind to think that I don't love you! You stitched into me! You saw everything, and for you to say that us uncalled for!" Cameron yelled. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah it is! I might have changed but my love for you hasn't. I don't think it ever will."
Kirsten's body slid down the wall. She felt so small. She had never felt so small in her entire life.
"You're not immortal Cameron. No matter how fearless you feel. You can't waltz through life thinking that. One day you're gonna die. Not matter how badly I don't want it to happen. I can't keep saving you."
"What are you saying?"
"I saved a body. I didn't save a soul." Kirsten removed herself from the floor and grabbed her jacket. Then promptly she slammed the door and the brunette stood there. Still. Frozen in time. She was right. He had become a different person. Only he could fix this. Cameron needed to clear his head. He went to his car and unlocked it. Driving. Yeah, driving far from this place sounded great. He pulled out of his apartment complex parking lot. Then he just drove. Destination? Anywhere.

That guy in the windshield looking back looks just like me
But there's a crack in the reflection
Hope he's moving in the right direction.

As he was on the interstate he heard his phone ring. Once he got a chance to check it he saw it was Kirsten.
"Hey."
"Hey. I am so sorry. I know you're probably so mad at me." She began to babble.
"Kirsten calm down. It's okay." He reassured. He hated to her hear upset. But to say that he didn't love her, that was the biggest mistake.
"How? I yelled at you for no reason. You didn't deserve it. People change, Cameron. I mean look at me. I surely have." She explained. He could tell she had definitely calmed down from his apartment.
"You sure have Stretch. You busy?"
"No I just got home."
"You wanna talk? But for real this time. No screaming matches?" He offered.
"Absolutely."
