"Take the egg and run!"

A mysterious SeaWing shoved the egg into a SandWing's talons and pulled out an obsidian blade. "I'll hold him off. Go!"

The SandWing took off into the night sky with the cobalt blue egg clutched in her talons, her SandWing scales keeping the egg warm enough to survive for at the very least an hour. But once she's in the clear and at the orphanage, she can place the egg in warm water, or warm enough for the embryo to survive.

The sand dragon didn't even notice the taken army on her tail. Not actually on her tail but following her. All she needed to do is to get to the orphanage with the egg unharmed. Whomever was in the egg was for whatever reason a key to stopping this taken corruption. No one told her the exact reason but she felt pretty confident that this was the correct egg.

The army behind her started breathing an odd looking fire, it looked as if someone took a dark orb, shoved it into glowing algae, and used it as a weapon.

"Shadow fire?! Seriously?"

She started shooting flames back at the taken, each time she hit someone they fell. Dead. But one of shadow flames hit her left flank, she cringed in pain, the fire felt as if she was in the middle of a volcanic explosion. Black dots danced in her eyes as she kept flying.

"Is the SeaWing alive?" She said to herself.

After what felt like an eternity she made it back to the orphanage and immediately safeguarded the egg in warm water. She sat there patiently waiting for it to hatch. After the third hour of watching the cobalt egg she heard someone enter, with chattering from the minders.

It was the SeaWing, Torrent. He made it back safe and sound. But with what looks like some odd green glows in his scratches. Like he might have been branded.

The SandWing, Jackal walked up to Torrent in a joyful manner.

"I didn't think you'd make it back" She said happily, Jackal did like Torrent, so she has no problems showing her feelings around him. But everyone else she didn't trust. "I didn't think so either, yet here I am." He replied. "That Oryx fellow was pretty tough, but I held him off long enough for you to escape."

She nudged him with her snout "Hey you don't need to remind me. I was there remember?"

"Well let's hope this is the correct egg, I do not want to go through that crap again." The egg did match the description: an egg of cobalt blue alone on the ocean floor. But Torrent didn't sound sure that it was the right one. He never spoke that thought aloud.

"Amen" she said in agreement.

"Hey I've been meaning to ask, but what happened?" Jackal followed his gaze to her left flank, which has been left with a wicked scorch mark. "The taken followed me, and one of their flames got me." She said. "It might be permanent, but it won't really matter." She brushed his wings with hers. "YOU better hope those wounds are non lethal. I don't want to say goodbye to a loved o- uh... A friend."

Torrent pulled Jackal in for a hug. "I should say the same."

"Yeah? Well here's to hoping that Oryx is angered."
