It had been a week since Taylor had spoken to Karlie, since she had left the model on the terrace. Karlie must have come back at some point because a significant portion of her clothing was missing but Taylor wasn't home when the model had been there. She must have let herself in, packed, and left while Taylor was at the studio or in a meeting. The singer had needed a few days to think things over and process her feelings before she ended up calling Karlie. There was no answer. Taylor had waited exactly two hours before calling again. Still no answer. The blonde spent the rest of the day staring at her phone and jumping every time it buzzed with the anticipation of Karlie being on the other end. She never was. The model knew Taylor had called. If she was ready to talk then she would call back, if not Taylor would wait. Karlie would call eventually... right?

The singer was on her way to a promotional meeting when she opened a new tab in google and did something she hated doing. She googled Karlie. Taylor knew she should wait for Karlie to reach out and leave speculating people and false news stories alone. Yet, Taylor hadn't told anyone, except for her mom, about the situation. She wasn't quite ready for people to know about this and didn't know if Karlie wanted her talking about it especially since they had very similar friends. On top of that Karlie's social media accounts had been bare for the past week. So here Taylor was, googling Karlie to see what the model had been up to and if everything was ok.

Taylor carefully typed her girlfriend's name into the search bar and clicked the latest news stories. Various stories popped up and Taylor tapped on one. The story said that Karlie was in Montreal for a photo shoot of some sort. Taylor didn't remember the model telling her about the upcoming trip but then again the singer had been so wrapped up in her album she hadn't really been looking at Karlie's schedule. Taylor zoomed into the photo. It may have been the summer but up north it had apparently chilly on that day. Karlie was wearing a cardigan, a simple pair of jeans, and a scarf. Taylor zoomed in further. It was Taylor's scarf. Karlie had taken her scarf.

A wave of emotions rushed over the singer. There was the initial happiness that Karlie still cared enough to keep something of Taylor's close to her. But then Taylor's heart tightened and her throat dried at the thought of Karlie's proposal. The singer was no where near ready for that. Sure she loved Karlie but she didn't feel like she needed to get married to show that. They were good where they were right now, why push it?

Taylor continued to scroll through the photos of her girlfriend. She smiled when she saw Karlie clutch onto the scarf, making sure it didn't get taken by a wind that must have swept thought. It was the same scarf that Taylor had brought to Karlie's sister's house. The singer had gone to grab a glass of water in the middle of the night and she ended up dancing slowly with Karlie's arms wrapped around her, humming contently. Taylor's heart quickened at the memory. She thought back to how Karlie had taken off her own sweater and wrapped it around the blonde to keep her warm, taking the thin scarf fro herself. Taylor had completely forgotten about the article of clothing until she looked through these photos. Karlie must have been keeping it in her suitcase that never seemed to be fully unpacked due to her constant traveling. Taylor closed her eyes as the car sped through traffic. For a moment she was taken back to all the car rides her and Karlie had shared, from the late night convertibles to the anxious and quite rides before meeting parents. The car stopped abruptly and Taylor's eyes opened, taken away from the small town roads in her mind to the packed rush hour traffic of New York City. The blonde looked back down at her phone, the pictures of Karlie still filling the screen. Taylor clicked back and tapped on another article. According to this source the model was in New York. Taylor looked at the date. Yesterday. So apparently Karlie had been away and come back over the past few days and was avoiding Taylor. The singer sighed in frustration and disappointment. She scrolled through the photos almost hoping she would see the model still wearing the scarf but it was summer and very hot in the city and the scarf was no where in sight. There was a video though. Taylor took a deep breath before she put on her headphones and clicked on the play button. A very distraught and tired looking Karlie exited a coffee shop alone. As soon as she departed from the building at least 15 camera men encircled her and she was bombarded with questions of all sorts. Most of them were about Taylor and if they were indeed moving in together. Another asked if Karlie had heard any of the new album. Karlie kept quite, keeping her head down and facial features neutral as she attempted to make her way though. Then one photographer asked Karlie when she was planning on proposing. To anyone else Karlie's expression would have seemed unchanging but Taylor saw the flicker of hurt and anger in the model's eyes as her jaw clenched and released for a split second. Taylor wanted to jump though the screen and push all the men aside and protect her girlfriend. Karlie was all by herself being bombarded by these people who were already adding salt to a wound they didn't even know was there. Taylor could feel her blood boiling. She closed her phone and ripped out her headphones, running her finger's though her short locks in frustration. She need to do something to protect Karlie. The singer called her head of security.
