A/N: I do not own the picture!

"Seriously Grayson?" Damian complained,"Shopping? Can't Pennyworth just do that for us?"

"Yes." Dick replied, dragging the ten year old to the car.

"Then why don't we leave all the work for him to do?" Damian struggled to get out of his older brothers hands.

"Because Alfred deserves a break." Dick said.

"Anything else?" Damian asked sarcastically.

"Yes, actually, one more reason." Dick replied to him.

"Well what would that reason be Grayson?" Damian sneered.

"Well I can't tell with that attitude!" Dick smiled.

"What?" Damian softened his tone.

"That's more like it!" Dick cried,"It has come to my attention that you have never ever been shopping, am I correct?"

"Yes..." Damian responded skeptically.

"So, every ten year old on the planet has been shopping with their mom or dad!" Dick cried.

"You aren't my mom or dad!" Damian pointed out.

"True," Dick stated,"But would your mom or dad really take you to do something a normal child would do?"

"No." Damian answered.

"So there you go," Dick tossed Damian into the shotgun seat,"That's why."

They  drove along in silent, Dick intent on the road and Damian reviewing the shopping list.

"Why?" Damian suddenly asked.

"Why what?" Dick asked back, surprised at the sudden question.

"Why do you feel the need to take me to something that a normal kid would do?" Damian questioned.

"Because you're only a kid once." Dick answered, but it seemed to automatic to be the real answer.

Damian nodded skeptically, he knew this was not the real answer, but he would ask again when they were done shopping.

They parked the car and exited it.

Damian walked up to the doors of the grocery store,"You know I have never been in one of these right?"

"Yes I know," Dick responded,"Frankly it's a very overwhelming experience, I remember the first time I came into one, I wasn't even--"

He was cut off by Damian,"Why isn't anybody just whelmed?"

Dick gasped,"Why you little monster!  What stories has Roy been feeding you know?"

"A lot of stories." Damian stated.

"Oh?" Dick replied.

"Yes, lot's were about Wally." Damian said.

"Wally was my best friend," Dick knew where this was going,"And yes he is dead, which is why I said was."

Damian lifted an eyebrow,"How did you know I was going to say that?"

"Because I have had over a decade of training with your father, who is my adoptive father mind you, so.." Dick replied, really loving the look on Damian's face.

Damian lifted his other eyebrow,"Yuhuh."

"Anyway, let's go in." Dick opened the door for Damian

Damian stepped in and gasped.  The ceiling was huge and there were aisles lined with food.  More food then he had ever seen in his entire life.

"See why I was overwhelmed and not just whelmed?" Dick turned to his brother.

Damian just nodded, looking at the giant stacks of food, suddenly his eye caught something that he had never seen before,"What are those things Grayson?"

"Carts, shopping carts, it's something to hold food in when you are shopping so your hands aren't full all the time." Dick answered laughing, then pulling Damian along with him, arrived at the carts.

"And you know what else I hear is really fun?" Dick picked up Damian and plopped him in the cart.

"How is this supposed to be fun?" Damian asked.

"Just wait," Dick smirked,"You have the shopping list correct."

"Of course," Damian responded,"I am very responsible."

Dick ignored the comment and started to push the cart around the aisles, looking for the first thing on the list.  Pasta.

"Faster Grayson!  Faster!" Damian shouted.

"Sh!" Dick said,"I will go faster, but you can't shout in stores like this!"

"Don't tell me what to do!" whispered Damian.

"Just grab that box of pasta off that shelf, will ya little bro?" Dick smiled a winning smile.

"No." Damian glared.

"Here!  I'll tell you what!  I am going to back up and speed past the pasta and you grab it while were speeding past, sound like a plan?"  Dick planned out, knowing Damian would like it.  After all, he was still a kid.

"Fine." Damian agreed.

Dick rolled the cart back the empty aisle,"Ready Dami?"

"Yep," drolled back Damian

Dick pushed the cart hard down the aisle running at full speed, Damian shot his hand and grabbed the pasta.

"Whew!"Dick spewed,"You get the pasta?"

"Yes." Damian responded,"Now let's do it again!"

Dick secretly smiled, he just knew Damian would love it.

20 grocery items later....

"Hey Grayson?" Damian turned up from the list.

Dick looked down and smiled,"Yeah?"

"What happens when we reach the end of the list?" Damian asked.

"We go to the cash register and pay for the groceries." Dick explained.

"Oh.." Damian said.

"Which means you need to get out of the cart." Dick told him.

Damian glared, bat-glared.  He was just like his father, after all, he was the blood son.

But Dick glared back, bat-glared back.  Even though he wasn't blood related to Batman, he was still his son and had known Bruce far longer than Damian.  Which meant more training in the bat-glare.

Damian sighed and hopped out of the cart,"Can we keep the cart?"

"No." Dick responded,"That's not part of the deal."

Once Dick had payed for the groceries and was back in the car driving in the car with Damian, Damian decided now would be the perfect time to ask.

"So really Grayson," Damian started,"Why did you take me, why do you want me to do things normal kids do?  I know your 'because you're only a kid once' answer isn't the one."

Dick sighed and leaned an arm against the window,"Because I was never able to do these things, my parents were never able to take me, and Bruce was always to busy.  I want you to do it, Dami, because when you grow up, you will regret never being able to experience these things."

Damian looked at his brother,"Why me?"

"Because you're my brother, not by blood, but by choice, and I love you, I don't want your life to be like mine." Dick sighed.

Damian looked at his brother,"So.. I take it we'll be doing this often?"

"Duh!" Dick said.

And they drove off, a car full of happiness and laughter, a strange feeling Damian had never felt.

And Damian smiled.  He knew this feeling now, it was love.  And he was full of it.
