Damian slouched on the couch, across from Tim and looking dejectedly at the ceiling.  Dick said he wouldn't leave him, but yet he still was hurting himself.  Why?  Damian tried to look strong, Tim couldn't know how he felt.  Never.

Tim would only laugh and call him a name.  It bothered him to the end, so Damian said nothing, and tried not to cry.  Tried hard.

-

Tim could tell something was wrong.  Damian was never this quiet, but why should Tim be concerned?  The same reason Dick had been concerned that his face was pale early in the morning.  He cared for Damian.  Ugh, such a pain.

But it was fine in a way, caring for someone.  Tim just didn't want to show it.

But that was impossible,"Hey Dami?" he asked softly,"Are you alright?"

Damian's face shot up in confusion, then he looked away,"Yeah, I guess, I dunno."

"Is it about Dick?"  Tim pushed.

Damian tried not to cry, tried, tried, tried,"Yeah.."

Tim swallowed as Damian continued,"He's, I just worry about him."

"Yeah me too." Tim said and turned away as he started to cry.

Damian looked surprised,"Dick means that much to you?"

"He always has." Tim said,"I met him, you know when I took over Jason's position.  He wasn't regretful at me like Bruce had once been, and Jason was.  He was just a little overprotective of me I guess.  You've just never seen our relationship.  Overprotective is the word though."

"He was?" Damian asked.

"Yeah, not expected right?  But then there was this one time, you know, when it was Young Justice team year 5 and everything, and we were on a mission.  I got caught in a building with a bomb, and I told Dick to get out, with the innocents of course.  Dick didn't want to leave me, but he didn't want to leave the innocents. So he left, and then the bomb blew.  He barely got out with the innocents, but I was in there.  With so much luck I had survived, but I've got a scar.  Dick never forgave himself and he just didn't talk to me anymore.  It wasn't his fault, he still tries to be kind to me though." Tim's tears dripped onto Damian's shoulders.

Damian hugged Tim hard and the two cried together, floodgates opening.

But they were there for each other.

For comfort.

Comfort.
