Chapter Thirty-seven
Ronnae Rodriguez
I was beyond pissed off at this moment. I sat in my office thinking while Dez was finding out who was building up a case against us.
I just couldn't believe Niya and her bullshit. She got me fucked up. I'd be damn if she takes Brielle away from me. I glanced at my phone seeing the time. I'd stop working on this new drug product we were working on for the public, gathering up my things get ready to go pick up Bri from school. When I heard my door open up, it was Lia.
We've been seeing each other for while now. Dez ain't the only one finding love out here. She was everything I could ask for. She was different from Niya. She had a personality that would brighten up a person's day. And Bri really liked her too.
"Hey" she said sitting on top of my desk. I swear she entered the room and my anger went down some.
"Wassup" I said smacking her thigh gripping it. She giggled by my touch. I slid my hand up towards her lower back pulling her closer to me.
"Nothing much really" she said sighing. I looked in to her eyes knowing something was wrong.
I let it go standing up. "Come on, I gotta go pick up Bri" I said grabbing my keys and phone.
I followed her out closing and locking my office up.
I exchange a few words with Dez before leaving out with Lia.
I made my way to my truck opening the door for Lia. Once I walked to my side, I glanced down at my phone as a text came in.
My blood started to boil like crazy. I got in the truck pulling off ASAP. Lia looked at me crazy at the way I was driving. I'd be damn if a nigga touch my daughter. Looking at my phone, I stared at the picture of Brielle on the playground at school.
I ran through four red lights and dodge about two police cars all while getting to Bri's school. Lia turned to look at me as the back door opened. I turned seeing Bri smiling big for no reason.
"Wassup princess" I said as she handed her backpack to me. I took a look inside pulling out papers. "How was school" I questioned still a little worried about that text.
"Hi daddy, Hi Lia" she said looking inside a paper bag she had. "It was fun. I got lots and lots of snacks from the party" she smirked as I looked at all the good awards she got.
"Hey Bri" Lia said texting on her phone. I gave Bri her backpack back before pulling off.
As I drove, I was slowly thinking. All this shit was soon coming to an end. I had a trip coming up in the Dominican Republic to discuss some business with this organization down there. But, I was having second thoughts about it. Something in me was telling that the trip wasn't going to in the way I wanted it to. So, I was going to prepare for the worst case scenario.
"Daddy my birthday coming up" I heard Bri as I pulled up in the driveway parking the car. "What are we going to do" she asked me. I shrugged my shoulders knowing that I had to think of something before I left for the Dominican Republic.
"I don't know yet princess" I said unlocking the front door. I looked at her as she frowned.
"But it's going to be special like you" I tell her. She smiled big before running up stairs. I made my way towards kitchen as Lia followed.
I was hungry as fuck and I knew Lia would make a nigga something to eat. She's just that good to me.
"What's wrong" I asked Lia. I noticed she's been quiet pretty much the whole time. I sat on the stool at the counter pulling her towards me.
