Chapter Thirteen
Nadia Rodriguez
I was driving back to my house coming from Kevin's when some girl just bolted into the damn street. I slammed so hard on the breaks. I hit my head on the steeling wheel hard.
When I looked up, she was gone. I got out looking around. I noticed Kira's front door was wide open. I ran over seeing Devon huddle over Kira. He turned when he heard me. I knelt down.
"What happened" I asked. "She just passed out. I don't know what--" he was stumbling around the words. His eyes were red.
"Come on, we gotta get her to the hospital" he picked Kira up walking out to my car.
I drove as fast as I could to the hospital. I ran through a red light. I wasn't stopping for nothing. Dev sat in the backseat holding Kira.
Once we got there, nurses took Kira to a room immediately. Dev talked to one of the nurses. Letting her know what had happened.
I waited in the waiting room. I noticed when I sat in the waiting room. I saw Ms. Davis. I panicked right away. Then my heart fell out of my chest when they called her name on the sitcom. Devon looked back at me like, what the fuck. I shrugged looking confused.
"I thought Kira's parents were out of town" Devon said when he walked over to me. "I thought so, too" I said.
Here goes the drama she's about to cause
Devon Jackson
It's been almost four hours. Before we could see Kira. The doctor finally told us what happened. Anxiety, stress and a very bad abusive behavior of prescription medications. Nah, not my baby. Kira wouldn't do that. But, then the doctor went to further details about how and why she must have took the prescription medications. Son of a bitch.
I walked in the room. She was laying there flipping the channels. I pulled up a chair next to the bed. She looked at me with those brown eyes of hers.
"Why you take them" I asked holding her hand.
"The pressure and stress my parents gave me" she took a breath looking at the door. I heard her mom yelling at the other doctor before coming in.
"Kira, what the hell was you thinking" she said. Kira shook her head looking at me. Her mom looked at me harshly.
"It's about time you go home" she folded her arms angrily.
"No, he's staying, mom" Kira said. I looked at her still holding her hand.
"Whatever. Your father and I will talk about this, young lady" she stormed out when Nadia came.
"What drama she causes now" Nadia asked sitting on the bed.
"I've been stressing too much and abusive behavior of prescription medications" she went back to flipping channels.
"Damn, they always doing something" Nadia shook her head.
"They do too fucking much" I said as Nadia pulled out her phone.
"Moms is tripping if I don't get home right way. You staying, Dev" she said.
"Yeah" I said.
"Alright, see y'all" she hugged us goodbye. "Don't let them stress you, girl" she said leaving out.
Kira looked at me making room in the bed. I took my shoes climbing in. She snuggled into me so tight. We just laid there watching tv. "We gonna talk later, baby" I told her. She groaned, looking up at me.
"Yeah" she said.
"Get some sleep" I said.
Kira slowly drifted to sleep after ten minutes. I thought to myself. What that girl had said back at Kira's. I was going to find who she was. And what the fuck was truly going on.
I ain't about to go down for shit I ain't do.
