Chapter Twelve
Kira Davis
I had no clue who this girl was. She was all shakily and scared. She kept saying someone gonna hurt her repeatedly. She was starting to scare me.
"Are you sure I can't get you nothing" I asked. She looked up at me. She was starting to shiver again. She looked back down before she started talking.
"Can I have some water" she said so low.
"Sure" I got up going in the kitchen. I folded my arms across my chest seeing Devon in the refrigerator. Guess someone got hungry all of sudden.
He turned around. "I got hungry" he said wearily.
"I see" I grabbed a bottle of water out the fridge.
"Who was at the door, baby" he said
"I don't know. Some girl" I said, "she keeps saying someone gonna hurt her" he looked at me.
"I don't know" I started to walk back in the living room when I bumped into her.
"Sorry, I didn't---" she stopped talking looking down.
"It's okay. Here's the water" I said. She grabbed it looking up. Her facial expression changed real quickly.
I turned. Devon was stuffing food in his mouth when he looked at me. "What" he said. I shook my head turning back to her. She was gone. I walked in the living room to see her balled up in a corner.
"Are you okay" I knelt down in front of her. She looked up. Her eyes were bloodshot red. From all the crying she did.
"That's him" she said.
"Huh" I looked at her confused.
"The one who raped me" she put her head back down crying. I heard Devon's heavy ass footsteps on the hardwood floor.
"What's going on" he asked. I got up walking to him.
"Idk. She thinks--" I rubbed my arm looking down. He lifted my chin up looking into my eyes. I was about to say it. But, she got up lunging at Devon.
"You get away from her, rapist" she yelled pushing Devon. I was getting mad when she kept pushing Dev.
"Aye" I grabbed her arm yanking her away from Dev.
"I'm confused" Dev said coming up behind me.
"Look, he's not a fucking a rapist. He's my boyfriend" I couldn't breathe nor think straight.
"I'm good at the remembering faces and I remember that face. Plus, he had a tattoo of a serpent on his left arm" she said so hoarsely. She was getting frustrated with every word coming out of her mouth.
"I hate serpents" I heard Dev say. I turned grabbing his left arm. There was a tattoo. Just not of a serpent. It was my name in a heart.
I looked at him then at her. But, she was gone. Front door was busted wide open.
That's when I passed out.
