Carter’s POV:

As I walked towards Mr. Wilde’s class, I kept thinking to myself: how will tomorrow go? An hour alone in the car with Harry. Just me and him. Alone. In a freaking moving vehicle. Crap.

It was either going to be a pleasant ride or the road trip from hell. He’s Harry. Things are never pleasant when it comes to him. I bit my lip and made a silent prayer hoping that this road trip will go well. Please go well, for my sake. I mean the only thing that we are going to discuss, are chemistry related questions. I hope.

The tardy bell brought me back to reality. I looked back and saw I was the only one in the hall. I cursed under my breath as I quickly made a turn and saw Mr. Wilde standing right by his classroom door waiting for me. We made eye contact for a second and he shook his head.

“I hope this doesn’t happen again Ms. Jarvis, I do not like when my students are tardy.” He stated firmly while I walked right past him. I had the urge to roll my eyes but instead I closed them and nodded.

“Yes sir. I understand, it’s just I was in the library tutori-” Mr. Wilde cleared his throat and crossed his arms. I looked down and tried to avoid eye contact from Natalie.

“No excuses Ms. Jarvis. Come with a tardy pass next time.” Mr. Wilde said as he pulled up his laptop. I nodded and grabbed my notebook and pencil from my backpack. Noah’s foot moved closer to mine; he was trying to make sure I knew he was there. I glanced up at him and saw a small smile form on his lips as he shook his hair out of his eyes. He glanced at my black knee brace from when I fell and mouthed, are you okay? I gave him a reassuring smile as I turned around to pay attention to Mr. Wilde, until I felt Natalie’s intense stare. My body stayed put, but I turned my head to look at her. Her grin was sneaky as she clasped her hands.

What? I mouthed.

You got in trouble. She mouthed back, trying her best not to erupt into hysterics. I rolled my eyes and put my index finger to my mouth, telling her to shut up. Natalie bit her lip and nodded slightly. I looked at my watch and saw that we had fifty-seven minutes of class left. I threw my head back and thanked God that Mr. Wilde was going to talk for the rest of the period. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to survive Natalie questioning me on what happened at the library last period. I would rather go through a whole lecture from an ill-tempered instructor, than an interrogation from Natalie Martin. She may be one of my closest friends here at Brentwood, but I didn’t feel like answering any questions involving the subject of Harry, from anyone. I looked at my watch for the second time. Fifty-five more minutes. I smiled to myself, thinking about next period. Photography. Crap. I have photography with Harry. Why was I counting down the minutes when I knew I was going to see him? I knew why. Because I was actually looking forward to spending time with him.

“So how did it go?” Natalie nudged me softly in my ribcage.

“It was a tutoring session Natalie. They are usually boring.” I looked up at her and raised my shoulders.

She let out a deep breath, “Not with Harry that is.”
