Kylo's POV:

Mom.

My mom.

If we have a girl this time around we're naming her after my mom.

I'll forever be reminded of the guilt that I couldn't save her. Save her from the monster that was tearing me apart. I didn't mean to kill her. I didn't want to kill her. When I saw my mothers beautiful face, something inside me begged me to go back to her, to go live with her again. But I let the darkness get the better of me. My mom, she didn't deserve to die. She was the one that was actually always there for me.

These thoughts swarm through my brain as I cook dinner for Mae and I. Though, I can say out little stroll through town today was quite relaxing. The scents, sounds, they were all new to me, and I liked it. It was a change. A good change. Maybe Mae and I can raise the new child here, instead of at the first order. We can leave, live a more normal life. But she and I both know we'll never escape to first order. Not with our high ranks anyway.

A feel a sting in my hand and look down, realizing I cut myself. I gently wash away the blood before wrapping it and going back to chopping the apples Mae bought in town. Simple fruit salad would tonight.

Suddenly, I feel a tiny disturbance in the force and I look over to Mae, seeing her holding onto her stomach and looking down in disbelief. "Love what's wrong?" I kneel in front of her, she gently presses her hands to the my cheeks. "We're having a little girl." I see her eyes tear up and I feel the sensation of my eyes wanting to start crying. "I felt it in the force." She smiled and wiped her tears before gently wiping away mine. "Are you happy about that love?" She whispers and my eyes slowly meet hers. "Yeah. Yeah I am." I say honestly, pulling her close. Her face buries into my shoulder and her fingers weave into my hair. My fingers rub her lower back softly as we sit, tangled together on the floor.

I slowly pull myself from her arms, needing to go back and work on dinner. Mae let go of me before standing up and walking away, her knees no longer bending.

Pain strikes my heart. I took one of her legs. I'm part of the reason she can no longer walk right. Her beauty and perfection was messed up by me. But now, she's perfect in her own right. I admire her, for the way she hasn't let losing her legs stop her from ruling, or hell, even having another kid. She's lost two limbs and is now having a daughter. That's some strength right there.

Once dinner is finished I go to retrieve Mae from our room, walking back in and beginning to fix her bowl. I gently set her bowl at her spot and go back to fix mine before bringing everything to the table. Soon she walks in, smiling up at me and sitting down at the table. "Eat up love. We have a meeting with the queen later." She nods, humming softly as she eats. Her face is so peaceful as she eats. She blushed at my staring, which earns a small chuckle out of me.

Mae's POV:

Once we've cleaned up from dinner I decide to go for a, walk alone. I grab my white Sith cloak and lightsaber just to be safe before heading out. I trudge through the forests and swamps, exploring the few miles around the shock before running into a powerful Force signature.

Rey.

I quickly pull my lightsaber, quickly igniting it. I spin around and come face to face with Rey. "Mae, I promise I wont hurt Kylo if you let me take you as prism let." She offers, my name sounding like venom as it comes out of her mouth. "I will surrender to you!" I spit and she ignited her lightsaber. "I'm sorry it had to come to this." She then lunges at me.

The battle is a tough, long one. Blocking and defending each other's attacks. Suddenly, I attempt to make a certain move and I feel a shooting pain through my left arm. I look down to my hand.

There's no left hand.

I scream out and fall to the ground, holding by hand. She runs off and turn around to see Kylo. He quickly takes me into his arms before running.

I awake, looking over and seeing everything from my left shoulder down is robotic. Third limb down, one left. I swear everyone doesn't want to kill me, just wants a limb. The queen walks me through some rehabilitation exercises and cheers slightly when I can fully use my new hand. Synthetic skin is placed over it, covering the wires and metal.

I stand, slowly making my way to the conference room, bumping into Kylo. "Damn Mae, three limbs gone." He chuckles, earning a soft chuckle from me. His hand gently caresses my face before kissing my forehead.

"You're closer to Vader than anyone now."
