____________________________I jolt up from a couch as I clench my chest in terror. Tears stream down my face and I was sweating thought my shirt. No no no. I looked around and found myself laying on one of the hospital waiting room couches. Where's Rowland?
I stood up, my legs shaking, and walked over to the lady at the front desk. "Umm excuse me ma'am," my voice cracks, "Have you seen the man who was with me earlier."
She looks up from her computer and shakes her head. "Okay well can you please tell me where a patient is?" She sighs and taps on her computer harder. "What's the patients name?"
"TaQuell Price", I replied. She goes and quickly taps on the computer again. "Ms. Price is in room 318 on floor 3." I thank the nurse and head to the elevator.
I make it to the third floor and quickly rush down the hallway to the room. 316 ,317 ,318 this is the room. My hand hovers over the handle of the door. I was scared of what I was going to see. Was she okay or was it critical? A small burst of giggles came from the room.
I open the door and see Rowland sitting next to quell. They turn their attention towards me; quells eyes lighting up. "Auntie!" She yelled. I crack a smile and went over to hug her. She giggles some more and pats the side of the bed, I slid in next to her.
She hugs tight, taking all the air out of me. I hug her again, not wanting to let her go. She looked better, she was better, I hope. "Auntie guess what."
"What?"Quell begins to ramble about her adventures in the hospital from the doctors injecting the medicine to the nurses playing with her during her check up. We laughed and giggled. I told her how I was just in the lobby waiting for her to get better. She grinned, "I told you, you're always going to feel better. See I feel better." She was right.
"Umm excuse me," a nurse stands in the door way. She walks in further into the room, "Are you two the parents of her." I was startled for a moment, I open my mouth to deny, but Rowland beats me to it.
"No ma'am, we're her uncle and aunt." My heart skips a beat, the nurse nods and writes it down. "Well we're going to give her one more check up to make sure that she's okay and then she'll be able to go home with you guys." The nurses briefly checks her vitals, then helps her out the bed and out the room.
Rowland and I sit I the room in silence. I look forward not knowing what to really say. He had given me the cold shoulder yesterday and now he was addressing me as his wife. I decide to put away my childish ways and talk. "So what did they say, how is she?"
"They said she had a febrile convulsion from her high fever and they're going to see what caused her high fever," he gets up and sits next to me," how are you doing, the last time I left you kinda passed out in my arms."
I passed out? "Oh, I'm doing fine, I'm just glad that quell is feeling better now." I gave a long sigh. Rowland comes closer and wraps his arms around me. "Relax, she's going to be fine. You saw her yourself." I nod my head, but I just could not get the thought out of my head that she was close to the light.
I shake my head, trying to get the nagging though out my head. Rowland pulls me in closer, he kisses my head then lays his head on top of mine. The comforting hugs and sweet kisses brings me at ease. He ends our embrace and holds out his hand," why don't we go get something to eat before quell gets back." I take his offer and give him my hand.
