"Come! I'll show you to your sleeping quarters," Calix said, strolling out of the room. Adelaide and Oliver shared a glance, then ran after Calix.
They followed him put into the room with the tables again. Everyone there went silent. Calix flashed them a smile and led them down a hall just left of the hallway that Calix's office was down. This hallway had frequent doors with numbers on them. Then Calix stopped at a door and got out a silver key with the number 24 on it, which was the number on the door. Calix unlocked the door.
"Go on in. You two must be very tired," Calix said. Adelaide realized he was right. She could hardly keep her eyes open. Oliver went in before her. She followed him, sleep trying to claim her before she could lay down.
Two beds were in the room. Oliver was asleep in front of the burning fireplace. She collapsed at his side, curling up in the curve of him. Just as her eyes closed, she heard the click of the lock in the door. They were locked in.
Adelaide awoke with a start. The sound of the lock clicking kept ringing in her brain. She ran to the door and tried to the turn the knob, but it wouldn't budge.
"Oliver!" She exclaimed. "We're locked in!" Oliver jumps up and ran to her side.
"We're locked in?" He exclaimed. "That's twice in two days we've been prisoners...imprisoned by two different groups!"
"Why would they lock us in?" Adelaide said. They weren't dangerous. They didn't have the strength to escape if a lot of humans and dragons were chasing them in the middle of the night. Why would they escape in the middle of the night, anyway? The Squadron could catch them. Why would they even escape in the first place? The Council would probably find them, and then they would be back in a Council cell. Adelaide banged on the door. She felt hopeless. Why had the Parliament of Peace saved them, and then locked them up again? It made no sense.
"I can't believe they locked us in," Adelaide said, sitting down by Oliver. She rubbed her arms to try to get the ashes that had landed on them off, but it hurt when she tried to rub her scales the wrong way. Adelaide gritted her teeth and leaned back against Oliver.
"I still can not believe they did not let you rescue your dad," Oliver said, yawning. Adelaide felt wide awake. She felt like she could punch everyone in the Council until they all bled and died. Sure, she would not actually do that, but she felt like she could. She certainly had the anger inside her, and she also had too much energy. Adelaide began pacing. Her heart hammered in her chest. Then the door opened. Calix stepped into the room smiling.
"What the heck?!" Adelaide screamed. "Why did you lock us im! We were not gonna sneak out in the middle of a war when we were finally safe!" Calix sighed and wrapped a wing around Adelaide, who calmed herself down.
"We could not risk you leaving. And, a few of our members have...well, let us say different opinions about you two. Most of them were taken from the front line and given jobs setting up your meeting," Calix said. "And they should be mad at me and Cordelia and the heads of their sections, not you two."
"Ugh. I just want to war to be over so I can go home and eat sweets," Adelaide said, sticking out her tongue. Calix smiled and laughed. Oliver then got up and stretched, unfurling his sparkly wings.
"Why is that guy in our room?" Oliver asked.
"He's teaching me how to be a unicron warrior and fight the evil snail bananas," Adelaide said, earning a cute grin from Oliver.
"Come on, you two. Let's go get some food," Calix said. Oliver and Adelaide followed Calix out into the main room.
