Adelaide awoke to the sky overhead rushing past her. Fear surged inside when she realized she was bound...to a dragons back. All she knew was that they were going to the Council. Her heart was pounding so hard she thought it might burst out of her chest. Her head throbbed where she had been hit to knock her out. She strained to look around. Dragons flew in a triangle formation around her. She was in the middle, along with two other dragons who were carrying a net in between them. What was that in the net? Adelaide looked a bit closer and saw Oliver being carried in the net. He seemed to be sleeping. Why wasn't he awake, fighting back? Had he been knocked out, too?
"She's awake," said a dragon off to her left.
"Well, knock her out again!" The dragon carrying Adelaide roared.
"I'll have to use tranquilizer darts," the one off to her left said.
"It doesn't matter how you knock her out! Just do it!" The dragon carrying her ordered. Adelaide then felt a sharp pain erupt in her left arm. Her head began to swim, and she looked at her upper left arm. A tiny dart was stuck in her, making her fall asleep. And before she knew it, she was asleep once more.
Oliver awoke before Adelaide did. They were being carried through long hallways. Well, Adelaide was being carried. He was being dragged. Oliver strained to sit up but lost his balance when they net was tugged out from under him.
"Get up," sneered one of the dragons tugging him. The dragon was handsome; his blue scales made him shimmer like the ocean. But his cold, horrible eyes ruined all of his looks. Oliver hastily scrambled to his feet. The WaterClaw dragon and who had been dragging him and the other dragon, and EarthenWing, grabbed him and walked along side Oliver, holding onto his arms. Oliver's heart was beating fast. He was probably about to see his horrid father, Scorch. He was pretty sure his father hated him and thought that any human-loving dragon was a disgrace. Oliver had never thought that all humans were bad; he had always thought there were some who didn't want to fight. And he had never fought because he had wanted so badly to stay with his family. Before Scorch had left them, he had told Oliver that he'd never be a good dragon if he didn't go off to fight the humans. But how did that make him a good dragon? Oliver didn't know...all he knew was that if Scorch saw him now, he would disown him. But hadn't he already done that? Oliver's sad thoughts were cut short when they came to a huge chamber light by Orbs. The fire-filled glass balls hung from the ceiling, making the room seem like it had stars if it's own. The chamber was positively huge. A long, elevated table was on one wall. Six dragons sat at it. There were three of each kind...except for CursedTalons, of course. The dragon carrying Adelaide through her down and Oliver rushed to her side. Her brown, gold, and amber scales glinted in the light. She looked beautiful. Her eyes opened and her red widened when she saw where she was. Adelaide clung to Oliver.
"I never thought I would see my own son protecting a human," Scorch spat. "I thought I taught you better, Oliver." Adelaide thought Oliver would hang his head and look at his feet, but he raised his chin and glared into Scorch's eyes.
"Adelaide is my best friend. I would never, ever do anything that endangered her," Oliver said. Adelaide's heart soared at his words.
"You talk as though you love her," Scorch said. "Friends or lovers?"
"Lovers," Adelaide said, standing up. "And I don't like the way you talk to him!" Smoke rose up out of Scorch's nostrils.
"Well. I have a sentence in mind for the both of you. But first, I'd like us to get acquainted," Scorch said. "I am Scorch."
"I am Kaitlyn," said the blue and green dragon next to him.
"I am Comet," said the brown dragon next to Kaitlyn.
"I am Apollo," said the second red dragon.
"I am Elbran," said the other
brown one.
"And I am Seaweed," said the last dragon, who was blue and green.
"I am Oliver, son of Scorch," Oliver said.
"And I am Adelaide," Adelaide said.
Scorch spread his arms wide. "Welcome. Guards, take them to the cells."
