The duo snuck upstairs to the chambers. They vaguely knew where the Council member's rooms where. A lot of this would be guesswork, and they needed all the luck they could get.
Adelaide and Oliver snuck up to the first door. Oliver assumed it was Scorch's door.
"You there!" A voice said. They saw a dragon guard walking over to them. "Is that you station?"
"Yes, sir," Oliver said. The guard studied him for a few more minutes and just walked away. When he was out of earshot, they both let out a sigh of relief. Adelaide slunk out of the suit of armor and quietly picked the lock on the door while Oliver hid her. She finally got it, and then opened the door, the vial of poison in her hands. This will show them, She thought. Try to mess with my father now. She saw Scorch laying in his bed and she walked over to him, being as quiet as a mouse. Oliver watched her gravely, doing nothing to stop her. He could live with his father dying if it meant the ware would be over. Adelaide pulled his mouth open gently and poured a bit of the poison into his mouth. It would take effect shortly. Before leaving, she took his Council ring. The possessors of these rings ruled the Council. And most dragons swore their loyalty and were killed, along with their family, if they committed treason. So no dragon tried. Adelaide slipped the heavy ring into her pocket. She walked back out to Oliver and locked the door behind her, so it would seem as though nothing happened. She crawled a back inside the armor, and they walked to the next door once they were sure there were no guards nearby. And Adelaide retreated the process. She did not know she could be so sinister. It scared her, but also thrilled her. She had always wanted to do something and be something worth talking about. And now she would be...but is this really how she wanted to end the war? Yes. She needed them gone. She repeated the process four more times until al the dragons had been given poison. And now she had all the rings. It was only a matter of getting her other tasks done. She slipped inside Oliver's armor. And he took her down to the main level and then to the dungeon. She was freeing a few humans. Her friend's father and her cousin. She found them and freed them. Now they had to get out. So Adelaide crawled into the armor and Oliver flew back to the guard they knocked out. He was still there, slumped on the balcony. How had this been so simple? They put his armor back on and flew off into the night.
