Adelaide and Oliver went to sleep that night, Adelaide holding the runs to her chest.
When they woke up, there was a flier on the doorstep.
"Whoever killed and stole the rings must report to the Council's palace," Adelaide read. She grinned at Oliver who let her climb onto his back.
The duo flew to the Council's palace. Fear and anxiety flowed through her, but also excitement. Worry was etched onto Oliver's face as they landed in the courtyard. Adelaide slid off of him and they walked together into the throne room.
The most important generals and such crowded in there, arguing, but went silent when they walked in. A leather pouch hung at Adelaide's waist. She was grinning happily, eager to see their reaction when she pulled out he rings. Adelaide and Oliver strolled up to the thrones and Adelaide stood on one to be heard better.
"I, Adelaide Ryan Wilson, killed the Council members and took their rings!" She shouted. A gasp rang out from the crowd. Adelaide got the six rings out of her bag and held each one up. The dragons stood there for a second, no moving. Then, one by one, the dragons in front of her knelt. She was their ruler now.
"I am your queen!" She shouted. "Oliver, my associate, is your king. And my first order as Queen is to stop the war!" The generals rushed away to send messages and the rest went to tell everyone else. Oliver smiled at her, relief on his face, he wrapped his enormous wings around her and held her close. She stood on her tiptoes and placed a kiss on his face. Adelaide grinned at him and looked around the throne room, hands on her hips.
"We'll need to get rid of these extra thrones," she said. "And maybe add more windows. Seems a bit stuffy in here, doesn't it?"
"Yeah," Oliver said. "Maybe a few here and here." Oliver pointed to a few blank walls and Adelaide nodded her head. This was the beginning of  a new era.
