Four months later, after they had given the humans some of their land, and after Oliver's family had come to live in the palace with them, Adelaide's mother came to visit. Along with her father, who had been slowly recovering. Her mother knelt before her.
"Queen, will you allow me to stay with you and the King?" She asked, hoping Adelaide would finally be the daughter she had wanted. But no.
"No. You were always horrid to me and my sibling. Father, you mast stay. Orchid and Braiden are coming next month, along with Jamie. Guards, please escort this woman out, and give this man a good room," Adelaide said, her voice sounding professional. She watched as her orders were carried out. She and Oliver had been married for a few weeks, and were already planning to adopt two children. A dragon, and a human, to start the new era of peace. And today, Adelaide decided, was the day. Sure, they were way too young, but they needed some heirs since the elections were thrown out along with other Council rules and traditions. They left for the orphanages.
Adelaide and Oliver entered the dragon orphanage. Many little dragons played around and laughed. Adelaide surveyed the area, until her eyes rested on a light blue and sea-foam green little dragon. She picked it up.
"Hello there," she said. The dragon grinned. "How old are you?"
"I'm four," the dragon said. It was a girl, beautiful and strong. This was the one.
They later went to the human orphanage (in human territories, of course), and saw kids running around and playing just like the dragons were. Then Adelaide saw a silly little boy running around and helping kids who had tripped. He was and adorable, blonde and tall princely looking boy. She walked over to him and knelt at his side.
"Hi there," she said. "What's your name?"
"I'm Tobias," he said.
"How old are you?"
"I'm six," he said. Adelaide scooped him up and did the paperwork.
"Well, guess what, Tobias? You're gonna be a prince," she said. His face lit up.
When she introduced the siblings, they couldn't have been a better pair of friends. Adelaide smiled at her kids, and at her husband. This was her life. A wonderful scene with happy kids and a huge kingdom and a loving husband.
