Adelaide and Oliver waited until the next evening, planning their daring escape and break-in. Oliver was only going along so he could talk to his father. Adelaide had some secret plans of her own. She was not only going to get revenge, but she planned to lock them away until they crowned her queen. She wanted to stop the war. Now. She could hardly stand all the fighting any longer. And she couldn't stand the fact that her father didn't know who she was!
"Things couldn't be worse," she muttered, "and now I'm sneaking into the Council's fortress." Shaking her head, she began getting ready. That included swiping a backpack from the spies supplies, and filling it with food and other provisions, along with some bandages. She also swiped two swords to put at her waist. Olive 'twas busy sleeping and eating to get his strength up, as well as training in the training room. He wanted to be able to go faster, swipe faster, and claw faster. When they were both ready, they met up in their room.
"Are you scared?" Oliver asked.
"No," Adelaide said confidently. She had always wanted to get revenge on the Council, and now she finally got to do that. Sure, there was fear in her, but there was also a determination that boiled over to hide the fear. She was ready. She could do this.
They waited. And waited. And waited until everyone was sleeping and the only Parliament members were the ones standing guard in front of the door that night. If they asked about what Oliver and Adelaide were doing, Adelaide would simply say, "Just going for a nighttime fly." And she hoped that they would not say anything.
When it was time, they crept up the stairs, trying their best to be quiet. On their way to the front door, Adelaide stopped. She had passed the office her father was in earlier. She sighed and kept moving. Couldn't do anything about that now.
The duo quietly opened the door. The first guard turned around and glared.
"What are you two doing?" He asked.
"We both can't sleep. So we're going for a nighttime fly," Oliver said.
"Well...I probably shouldn't let you go," the guard said, weighing his options. "But I was told to treat you with lots of respect. So...go ahead." Adelaide smiled and nodded at the guard, and climbed onto Oliver's back. They then took off, not bothering to even look twice at the battle below them.
