Third Person's POV
Everyone has been on edge since Chrissy blacked out. North and Bunny are trying to figure out why it happened, Cupid keeps say it's all his fault, and Jack - he's the worst. He snaps at everyone and everything and is very jumpy.
When Cupid came back from the infirmary saying Chrissy blacked out and won't respond, that set everyone off. They're all worried now more than ever. The moment Jack heard the news, he slammed Cupid against the wall and started yelling about how it's his fault and how he caused it.
Cupid just stood there and took it, even though he could have easily thrown Jack off. North tries to ignore it, busying himself with the workshop; Sandy keeps trying to guess how it happened; Bunny won't talk about it and Tooth won't stop.
Chrissy lies still on the white bed in the infirmary, not moving or responding to anything. Everyone refuses to give up, especially Jack and Cupid. Even though they are at each other's throats now more than ever, they agree on one thing: don't give up on Chrissy.
Tooth's POV
North calls us to the globe room for a meeting. I fly in hoping it's good news for once, everyone deserves a break from the bad right now, especially Jack.
"What is it, North?" I ask, landing next to Sandy. Bunny comes out of the workshop, an elf following him. "I have news." North announces. "I hope it's something good." Cupid mutters. I smile sadly at him.
Both Cupid and Jack have been worried sick, neither have slept much either. "We've found Chrissy's staff." North tells us. Jack and Cupid visibly wince at Chrissy's name.
I turn to them and place a hand on Cupid's shoulder. "Why don't you two get some sleep? The rest of us can handle this." I suggest. "No. I want to help." Jack says angrily. "Mate, you haven't slept in days." Bunny says.
Jack sighs and looks at the staff. "I guess you're right." he says. Jack turns and flies out of the room. "Cupid, you need sleep." I say gently. "No. I'm fine." he snaps. "Cupid, I think Tooth's right." North says.
"I told you, I'm fine." Cupid says, glaring at us. I look at Sandy and nod. He makes a sand ball and throws it at Cupid. As soon as the sand hits him, he's out.
"Bunny." I say, gesturing to the now-sleeping Cupid. Bunny grabs his arms and drags him out. I sigh, sitting on the railing. "North, what are we going to do?" I ask weakly. "What do you mean?" he asks.
"Jack and Cupid are miserable. This is killing them, North. How are we supposed to sit around and do nothing when clearly we have to do something?" I say, voice breaking near the end. "We can't sit around, North. We were brought back to help."
"What are we supposed to do, Tooth?" North asks angrily. "I know we aren't supposed to turn on each other." I tell him. He sighs and looks down. "I know. You're right." he says. "Why don't you try to ask Manny?" I suggest.
"I don't know if it'll work, but we can give it a try." North says. I smile. Finally, we're getting something done.
Chrissy's POV
I sit on the tree stump and sigh. I've been in the forest for hours and no one's came to look for me. Manny hasn't spoke a word, and I'm starting to worry.
What if no one comes for me? What if I'm stuck here for ever? I can't fly without my staff and I don't even know where that is, even if I did I don't know how to find the Pole.
I sigh and look around. Even though I've been here for hours, the sun is still high in the sky, almost as if no time has past. I haven't run into any animals, not even squirrels or birds.
Now that I think about it, I haven't even heard anything in a while. I close my eyes and try to think. My eyes snap open at the feeling of coldness seeping through my pants.
I look down and see I'm in a boat. The boat is nearly filled with water and I panic. I can't swim, I don't know how! "Help!" I shout. The boat fully fills with water and sinks, leaving me to try and keep my head above the water.
"Someone please...help me!" I shout. I get pulled underwater by the current. I fight to keep my head up, and as soon I reach air again, I cough up water. "Help! I can't swim!" I shout.
A wave washes over me, pulling me under. I tumble with the water, trying to find which way is up. Just when I think I'm a goner - my lungs burning and head getting foggy - I reach air.
I take deep breathes before I get pulled under again. This time I let the current take me, seeing as my body is numb from lack of air. I close my eyes.
My body slams against something hard and I wince. When I open my eyes, I'm in a desert. The heat is coming down and there's no shade for miles. My head is pounding, but at least now I have air.
I stand up and start walking. I don't know where I'm going, but I keep walking. The sun burns my skin, but I don't stop. I have to get to the Pole. After a while, the sun and heat becomes too much and I pass out, slamming hard against the dry dessert sand.
