Chapter 7
*Haydens P.O.V*
I stared at my clock, not wanting to get out of bed. Hoping time would just freeze. I wanted so desperately to sleep in, I hadn't had much sleep these last few days.
I eventually got up and started getting ready. I decided to dress a little nicer today considering I hadn't been putting much effort into my looks lately.
I put my hair in a little half up hair do with a small soft pink bow to top it off. I put on my light wash jean capris and a flowy, soft pink, tie front, polka-dot shirt. I put foundation over my many scars and bruises just like every other day.
When I looked in the mirror I could see the scars from the coffee my dad splashed on me yesterday. There were evident marks on my collar bone and all along my left arm. They were hard to cover up but I did my best.
I put a light layer of blush on, and applied a coat of mascara. I slipped on my keds and headed for the front door.
I let out a breath of relief when i saw my dad was still asleep. I opened the door and left for school. I noticed someone at the end of my driveway, they turned and gave me a wave. I waved back realizing it was Rebecca.
"Hey." I said giving her a hug.
"Hi! What have you been up to? I tried calling you Saturday and Sunday but you didn't answer." She said, worry present in her voice.
"Oh, I was working on my partner art project like all weekend." I said smiling.
"Oh cool, I had to do that last semester. I had Angie as my partner...Kill me....anyway, who is your partner?" She asked me.
I was a little worried about telling her. I just knew she was gonna give me some long speech about Louis.
"Louis Tomlinson." I said avoiding eye contact.
"Louis...Tomlinson?" She asked.
"Yes that's what I said."
"Oh my gosh you poor thing! I thought I got it bad with Angie, you have the biggest player in the school!" She said laughing.
I just stood there knowing that her speech wasn't over.
"Do you know he has dated like every girl on campus? Ha. Wait you guys have been meeting outside of school? I feel so bad for you."
I couldn't listen to her rant anymore. "Rebecca, Louis isn't like that. At least he hasn't been like that with me." I said quietly.
"Please, it's all an act sister. Don't let those pretty eyes fool you. Once he gets what he wants he's gone."
"Listen, I know he has been with a lot of girls. I know that. But trust me, he isn't trying to get me in bed with him! For goodness sakes. He doesn't like me one bit. We are just partners, just friends."
I said sounding angry, probably because I was.
"Geese calm down. I just don't want you hurt. Are you sure he hasn't been leading you on?" She asked me.
"No! Trust me, he would have made his move already. I did fall asleep at his house and he didn't take advantage of me." I said, my words clearly catching her off guard.
"You WHAT?! Hayden, you need to be more careful!" She said loudly.
"I know...I also slipped up somewhere else...he kinda...saw one of my bruises." I managed to mutter out.
"Oh my god, Was it a big one?" She asked worriedly.
"Yes, it was the biggest one I've had in a long time. And you know what...He actually seemed scared for me. He sounded genuinely worried about me. He told me he cared, and at first I thought it was an act, but now I think he might have actually been concerned." I said half smiling.
"Hayden look at you. Standing there smiling over some boy you barely know. Don't get too close, he tells all the girls he cares about them. I don't think it meant anything, I'm sorry." She said.
I can't deny that her words hurt me. Was Louis taking advantage of me? I couldn't believe it, I didn't want to believe it. I have gotten closer to him in these past 3 days than I have gotten with any other guy before. I usually am not one to let guys get to me. But this one was different.
I just put on a half smile,"Thanks for the warning, you're a good friend." I said giving her a hug.
"I know." She said laughing.
We made our way up the steps to the front door.
"Alright I'll see you at lunch." I said to Rebecca as she made her way to her first period class.
I stopped by my locker to drop my bag off. I twisted the lock right, left, then right again. 28...16...4 my lock flew open and I opened up the navy locker.
Just then I felt a tap on my shoulder, "Hey stranger!"
I turned around to see Louis. He had on a white T-shirt exposing his muscles.
"Hi!" I said back. "I was just gonna go to art, will you walk with me?" I asked him.
"Yeah I was gonna ask if we could walk together!" Louis said smiling.
*Louis P.O.V*
She asked me to walk with her...That wasn't even a big deal but it still made me feel good. It was only a minute walk but I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
We got to art and walked inside. I debated whether or not to sit by Hayden. Some of my friends were in my art class and I didn't want them to ask questions about me and her.
I decided to sit with my friends, so I walked over to the table in the back we usually sat at.
"Hey Lou." My friend Ryan said.
"What's up?" I asked back casually.
"Nothin much, but I have some questions for you." He said slyly.
"Oh and what would the questions be?" I asked.
"Well I saw you walk in with Hayden. Is she your next good time?" He said nudging my side and wiggling his eyebrows up and down.
"What? No, she is my partner. We were discussing our project." I said making up a lie.
"Good, I mean she's hot but she's totally weird, she never talks." He said.
I had to admit that made me mad. He doesn't know her. I mean, I barely knew her but I still knew she was a great girl, an amazing girl actually. And she wasn't "hot" she was beautiful. But I had to play it cool around Ryan.
"Yeah she is weird. I can't wait till this dumb project is over." I said forcing a fake smile.
That was the biggest lie I have ever told in my life. Truth is I wished this project would never end. When it was over I wouldn't have an excuse to see Hayden again. I don't know what was happening to me.
