"Hello. Just here to give you your medications."
The girl in front of me didn't even glance my way. She just sat by the windowsill and stared out at the sky.
"Here you go." I set down a cup of water and handed her her pills.
She quickly downed them and set the cup aside, still silent. I was used to patients talking their heads off when I came in the room, deprived of company.
I tried to smile, but she didn't see. Her face was turned away. The girl had curly, dark brown hair that fell down her shoulders. She wore a pink gown and had bare feet.
"Okay, bye."
She seemed not to even notice me leave. A strange feeling descended upon me. I shrugged it off and moved on to the next door.
