"Sir! You need to calm down."
Okay. I could do this. "There- there is this girl... room 103. Her name is Sam. I- I mean... Samantha. And I- She- Where? Is she okay?" My breath heaved.
"Patient 103?" I hated that she called her a patient.
"Yes." My fingers tapped on the counter at a quick pace. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Let me see. Sir, this might take a minute. You should sit down."
"No. I mean- I'm good." I shook.
The lady disappeared. I swear, that minute she was gone felt like an hour.
"She is being taken care of sir."
"What is that supposed to mean?" My voice cracked.
"They found her quick enough. She is currently stable."
"Stable? Found her?" My eyes grew wide. Found her like what?
"Yes, sir." She nodded.
"What happened?"
"Are you a family member?"
"No, but-"
"I'm afraid I'm not authorized to give you that information." She shook her head.
I breathed in and out. "Please. Just give me this."
"What is it, sir?"
"What is wrong with her?"
"Oh, you didn't know?" She opened her eyes wide in surprise. "Samantha White has..."
Here, she paused and whispered it to me.
My mouth opened wide. I tried to speak, but all that came out was a squeak.
