I pulled into the driveway and lifted her off of the motorcycle. "Where are we?" She asked.
"My house." The smile that followed was immediate. "I thought that now that we are... boyfriend and girlfriend you should know where I live."
Boyfriend and girlfriend. Sam was my girlfriend.
"Really?"
"Yeah." We took slow steps up to the front door and I opened it up for her. "After you."
She curtsied and tucked her hair behind her ear. I felt a little nervous about letting Sam see my house because of how personal it was to me, but I figured this would be a good step to take.
She took my hand -something she did very often now- and looked around excitedly.
"Aaaand this way!" I swung her around to the staircase before-
"Hey James!" Oh no. It was too late. "And you must be Sam!"
I sighed. "Hey Mom."
"Hello Mrs..." Sam began.
"Mrs. Reed." My mom smiled.
"It's really nice to meet you!" Sam held out her hand in greeting and my mom shook it.
"Yeah. James has told me so much about you!"
I turned crimson. "Oh really!" Sam winked at me. "He has?"
Before I could turn any deeper of a shade of violet, I hurried Sam upstairs. She laughed the whole way up. "I really like your mom, Jay." She commented.
I didn't respond, but instead showed her into my room. She immediately ran in, examining everything within it. I smiled, as she reminded me of a child once more.
Sam then sat upon my bed. "I love your room!"
"Yeah. I like it, too." I sat down beside her.
"I also saw that you had lots of classical music over there. I love classical music."
"I also have a guitar..." I pointed towards my dresser, trying to hint her along.
"Oh!" Sam ripped the bucket list from my fingers. "Number Sixteen! Do you know how to play it?"
"Yeah." I brushed the hair from her face and retrieved my guitar.
I played a couple of chords and then placed the guitar in her arms. Her eyes lit up as she strummed away. The strings buzzed and she couldn't quite get a strumming pattern down, but she was so happy.
√ 16. Learn to play guitar
After awhile, I took the guitar from Sam. "I know this will sound awful... so sorry. But, I did stay up very late to write this, so... Just don't laugh."
I began to strum slowly...
Am... C... G... D...
"I found my girl in the summer of fourteen,
The prettiest one I'd ever seen
Though I was too shy to tell her then,
on that warm summer day way back when.
We started a little bittersweet,
Me and the girl without shoes upon her feet.
When I talked about all things deep
whilst my girl was fast asleep
We wished upon the stars
in that moment together that was ours.
We danced in the pouring rain
While I wondered whether we were sane
But baby if you can't fly
I'll be your wings in the sky
And if your heart fails you
I'll give you mine to beat to
And if you ever feel alone,
I'll mend every broken bone
You are mine beyond compare
If you need me, I'll be there
But baby if you can't fly
I'll be your wings in the sky
And if your heart fails you
I'll give you mine to beat to."
Sam was speechless for the best of a minute. A tear fell down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away. "I love it, Jay!"
I blushed. "Thanks." After putting away the guitar I pointed to the list and smiled. "We just crossed out another item."
√ 5. Have someone write a song about me
Sam just laughed and leaned back in my bed. I joined her, kicking my feet up in the air dramatically. And of course, the one thing Sam asked was, "What's next?"
"How about some lunch!" I grinned.
"Perfect."
The restaurant Sam had chosen was a cute little Italian food place off of Main Street. I had insisted on going out so we could get some space from my mom. She happily agreed.
"What can I get started for you?"The waitress glanced between the two of us.
Sam spoke up excitedly. "How about two lemonades and two orders of ravioli?"
"Sure thing." The waitress smiled at us and shook her head as she walked away.
I had no clue how we were going to complete all of the things on her bucket list. Like fly, be on a stage, travel somewhere far away, and save a life; how would we possibly do all that? I had promised to try my hardest with it all, so soon enough, some way or another we will be doing just that.
Our meal came shortly after and we quickly devoured them. Afterwards, I decided on letting her learn to drive. Though I was unsure and a little scared of the outcome. I brought her over to a vacant parking lot in my little junky car. "Time for number one on the list!"
"I'm gonna learn how to drive?" Sam asked.
"Lets hope so." I gave Sam a skeptical look and we traded seats.
She was practically jumping in her seat. "Okay. Sam. This pedal right here is the brakes. This one is the accelerator and that is the clutch..." I went on rambling about all the different car parts.
Somewhere in the middle of that, Sam must have zoned out because when it was time for her to drive, she had no clue what ANYTHING was. I now saw why she didn't already have her license.
"Are you ready Sam?" I asked cautiously.
"Yeah." She nodded her head enthusiastically.
We almost died. Well, that's a bit of an overstatement, but we did run over a trash can and almost crash into a tree. At the end of it all, I was glad to be alive. Sam was pleading for more, but I decided to call it a day. When we finished driving lessons, it was already six o' clock.
√ (close enough) 1. Learn to drive
I decided to take Sam back to her room. But while I was exhausted, Sam shouted from behind me as I was leaving, "I can't wait for next time!"
Hey Readers!
Sorry for the lame filler chapter... tell me what you think below in the comments! Do you like the idea of Sam having a bucket list? Any ideas for how she could complete it? If you guys have any ideas for future chapters, feel free to tell me!
