Niall: “One day, we’ll figure all this out.” It’s said as he tries to even his breath after another late night, lonely phone call he made to you, inviting you over. Even though things between the two of you ended weeks ago, neither of you seem to be able to let it go, always coming back for a few hours in the night. You turn on your side, turning away from him so he doesn’t see that you’re just as hurt and confused as he is with the mess you’ve created. Niall lets out a sigh, feeling the chill that comes when your body leaves his, and drapes an arm over your side to pull you closer. Too tired to protest, you give in, feeling his strong chest against your back and it’s the most wonderful feeling in the world.
Liam: “One day,” he murmurs to your daughter, “Their words won’t hurt you.” He smiles against her head as she burrows deeper into her dad’s chest, seeking refuge that only his strong arms can provide. Running his hand over her hair, he remembers exactly how she feels, sad and confused as to why the other kids just don’t seem to like him. But now look at him, and if he can overcome it, surely so can she. For now all he can show her is how loved she is and how much she means to the two of you. As if reading his thoughts, your daughter looks up at him, whispering, “I love you, Dad.” Nodding and pressing a kiss to her forehead, he replies, “I love you more.”
Harry: “One day,” he grunts, leaning over the car. “We’ll look back on this little detour and say, ‘what an adventure.’” Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he looks up at you, giving you that million-dollar grin. Your car sits, stalled on the side of the road, thoroughly putting a stop on your trip out of town for the weekend. The summer heat makes everything even more unbearable as you wait for a tow, but as Harry rounds the side of the car to sidle next to you, you can’t help but smile back. Sure, you’d much rather be laying out on the beach then stuck in this little one road town, but at least you’re with Harry, who makes sure you’re never bored.
Louis: “One day you’re going to like me just as much as I like you.” Louis looks at you with this cocky smirk on his face, as if he can predict the future and read your mind. “No, I’m not.” He only rolls his eyes, not believing a word you say even when you say it over and over again. It doesn’t matter how adamant you are, he just keeps telling himself that with time he’ll wear you down, with time you’ll realize just how much you need him too. You repeat in your head how it’ll never happen, but soon the words seem to lose their meaning and you’re left wondering if maybe Louis has a point.
Zayn: “One day I’m going to marry her,” he tells his buds, to which they only laugh. “You’ve been on three dates,” they say, immediately dismissing his daydreams. He only shrugs, not really caring what they have to say because he knows. If you asked him how he knows, Zayn wouldn’t be able to tell you, just that there’s something in his bones that tells him you’re the one. Maybe it’s the way your voice resonates in his ears long after you’ve stopped talking, or maybe it’s the way your eyes squint when you smile, but he misses you as soon as your out of his sight. He doesn’t want to have this feeling of longing for the rest of his life, instead he wants you for forever.
