Love Me Genisis

Chapter 7

A few weeks later Roman sat at his desk going over a case file when his partner, Victor Abbot, snapped his fingers at him.

"You got visitors." Victor said.

He nodded toward the unit entrance. Roman turned in his chair. There stood Genisis holding Taylar's hand. He smiled as Taylar spotted him. She ran for him in her purple tutu he'd bought.

"Man-Man!" Taylar shouted.

She jumped into his arms and he scooped her up into the air. She kissed his cheek and he returned the gesture as he watched Genisis make her way over to him.

"Mama Bear." Roman teased.

Genisis smiled and replied, "Papa Bear. Did you tell him?"

She gestured to his partner and life long friend. Roman smiled brightly as he shook his head no. He turned to look at Victor who wore a confused look on his face.

"We want you to be the godfather, Vick." Roman explained.

Victor smiled brightly and said, "I'm honored. Also I accept!"

He handed Genisis a teddy bear from his desk drawer as he pulled a card from under his files. Congratulations on your little blessing. First teddy bear for the nursery is from me. With love - Vick. Genisis smiled at him.

"Thank you." she said to him.

"ROMAN JULIUS DUKE!!!" a feminine voice hollered.

Roman's smile disappeared. Genisis turned to see a white, lean, angry woman stomping their way. Victor ushered Taylar away to get a snack. Not wanting her to hear what would probably be said.

Roman stepped in front of Genisis and said, "Patricia. I thought you were with your parents."

She ignored his statement and glared at Genisis as she spat, "So this is her? Wow. Here I am blowing off my parents to take you out to lunch so we can discuss things. Instead I see some fat chick with MY FIANCÉ!"

Genisis felt like someone had punched her in the gut. Fiancé? She had to have heard wrong. Right? She had to have misspoke. But a quick glance at the ring on the woman's finger told her the truth was spoken. She glanced up at Roman before looking back to Patricia.

"I'm pregnant." she said simply.

With that she went to grab Taylar and left without another word to either of them. Leaving them standing there staring at each other.

She rushed to her car pulling Taylar along behind her. If her stomach wasn't still hurting she'd have snatched her up and carried her. They finally made it to her car & she strapped Taylar in her seat, checked that she was secure then jumped into the driver's seat. She started her car and backed out of her space.

There was Roman. She wanted to break down. But she refused to let him see her cry. She glared at him angrily and sped away.

Roman could feel his heart shattering and it was then his choice became clear. He'd felt nearly nothing when Patricia said she was through. But watching Genisis leave with his newly forming family in tow, he felt crushed. More than crushed. He felt like he had been disintegrated. He sprinted to his car and sped to her home. He caught sight of her door closing, threw his Jeep in park and hopped out, racing to the door.

Genisis steeled herself as she prepared to open the door that Roman was pounding on. She stepped outside, being sure to close the door behind her.

"What?" she demanded.

"I'm sorry." was all he said.

That's it? Genisis glared up at him. He's sorry? That's all she gets? Her blood was boiling in her veins. She wanted to slap the shit out of him. But she refused to get violent with Taylar just inside.

She whisper-yelled, "You're sorry? You don't know how sorry you are! What was this to you? A game?! Was it just something for you to do? What about this baby?! Was it an accident? And Taylar! You got close to my daughter for what?! You had no intentions in being a family with us! Just wanna spread your seed. Why me though? Why bring me into this bullshit?! Answer me!"

He stared into her blazing eyes. He wanted to touch her. To hold her. But he knew not to. She was obviously struggling not to put her hands on him as her fists clenched and shook at her sides.

So he answered her, "Genisis believe me. This wasn't a game for me. I fell for you faster than I could figure out my own situation. I settled for Patricia when I was being pressured by my mother to move into the next step of a relationship. Engagement. I was never in love with her though. I cared about hurting her though. Which is why I didn't know how to break it off with her. But I don't regret our baby. Its not an accident to me. I love our baby. I love Taylar. Genisis, I love you. I'm sorry I never told you. But I do love you. Only you."

She didn't say anything. She just stared at him. She could see a couple neighbors stop their yard work and peeking over their way. Great. Now she had to leave the neighborhood. She focused back on him and replied, "Good bye Roman. You can come to appointments & still be in your child's life. But we're through. Goodbye."

He reached for her and she pulled away. He saw tears longing to fall from her eye. But she rushed back into the house. He slowly returned to his Jeep and drove home. Memories flooded his mind as he arrived home and retreated to his bed. Taylar sleeping in his arms and his head on Genisis belly. Tears fell as he thought of it all ending. His heart shattered.

Meanwhile, Genisis crawled into her bathroom as pain radiated from her uterus. She cried as the pain crippled her on the floor. She managed to push the door closed. Not wanting Taylar to come see her. She looked down to her thighs, feeling fluid leaking from her.

Genisis was terrified to spread her thighs. She didn't want to see. She forced herself to spread her legs & screamed upon seeing the amount of blood on her thighs and the floor. She grabbed for her purse and snatched her phone out. She called herself an ambulance as her hands shook and more cramps tore through her.

Soon she was on a hospital bed in a room cooler than she'd like and Taylar curled up in a recliner asleep. Genisis could feel part of her soul had been broken away. She felt like an empty shell. She lost the baby.

So Genisis finally knows! Roman should've been told her right? Like at the very least before they had sex.

Poor Genisis. I myself had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy. Not why I put it in the story. But my heart goes out to mothers of miscarried and stillborn angels. Keep your heads up.

Will she go into depression?

Will Roman still love her?

Did finding out he's engaged trigger the miscarriage?

What's next for those two?
