Chapter 18

***two months later***

Brian walked into his home and stepped out of his boots. He smiled as he walked into his kitchen to see Genisis at the stove swaying. She turned to grab a handfull of diced mushrooms and he caught sight of Riley nursing in a wrap that Genisis had her in. It was only then he realized she wore only shorts and a nursing bra.

"Smells good, Gorgeous," he called to her. "How's my little cowgirl doing?"

Genisis smiled over her shoulder and checked to make sure Riley was still getting milk before she replied to him, "She's great. Why don't you call Taylar in and y'all go get washed up. Lunch will be ready soon."

He nodded and walked out onto the porch.

"Pooh," he called to Taylar. "Lasso that last calf and bring it in! Mama says lunch is ready!"

Taylar nodded and shot him a thumbs up. He stepped back inside and smiled as Genisis walked out to the dining area and began setting the table. She set a few extra places in case any of the workers decided to come in. Riley whined and she removed her from her wrap and headed upstairs followed by Brian.

She placed Riley in the center of their bed on her stomach and went to the closet. She changed into a pair of jeans and a tank top and slipped on her sparkly sandals that Taylar had picked her out. Brian stepped in and kissed her neck lightly.

"How about a quickie?" he breathed into her ear.

Without waiting for a response he pushed his hand into her pants.

"Baby, what about Riley?" Genisis tried to argue, even as she spread her legs a bit.

"I put her on her play mat on the floor. Baby's on guard." he explained.

She moaned as his fingers stroked inside her. She leaned her head forward and he kissed her neck and shoulders as he lowered her pants. She braced herself on the wall as he dropped his towel. He eased into her and she whined his name.

"Might as well start preparing for Daughtry baby number two." he said with a hint of humor.

She smirked back at him and he slapped her ass and began pounding into her. She bit her lip to slightly muffle her moaning as she braced herself on the wall.

"Oh Brian. Baby, I'm about to come already." she whined.

He smirked and pounded her faster and harder building his own release. He felt himself pulsing within her as he groaned, "Genisis. Fuck I'm coming. Baby, you feel so good. Fuuuuccck!"

He stood completely still as he tried to gain control of his legs. Once he was sure he could walk he pulled out of Genisis and walked over to her girly products. He grabbed a wipe from the box of wipes she used when she was on her period and wiped himself down. He handed her a couple and went to his clothes.

Genisis struggled to walk as normal as possible. She walked into the room and picked Riley up. She headed for the door and looked back as she heard Brian's say, "I hope like hell we made baby number two."

She laughed and he followed her out and down the stairs where a kitchen full of ranch workers waited. She handed Riley to Brian and smiled as she began plating their food. Starting with Brian's plate. Before long they were stated at the table eating. A knock on the door earned silence from everyone. Genisis walked over and opened the door. She froze. Brian looked over.

"If I can't have you no one can." a male voice said.

That's all he heard before a gun went off and Genisis clutched her chest. She dropped to the floor and Brian handed Riley off then rushed to her. He placed his massive hand over the hole in her chest. Blood spilled from under his hand as he called the police. He looked up to Genisis.

"Stay with me, Baby," he pleaded. "You hear me? Stay with me. Somebody get me something!"

Taylar stood in shock with tears streaming down her cheeks. One of the farm men handed Brian the cloth napkins from the table. Brian stared into Genisis's eyes.

"Baby, look at me," he begged. "You gone make it. We have a family that needs you. How's it gone work without you? Gen, I need you. Taylar needs you. Riley needs you. Baby, what are we gone do without you? Please hold on!"

Genisis felt like a weight was lifted from her as her world began to spin. She closed her eyes to stop it. But then they wouldn't open back up. She could hear Brian begin to panic. Suddenly she heard unfamiliar voices and felt herself moving. Brian's voice broke through the unfamiliar ones saying, "I love you, Genisis! Baby, can you hear me?!"

She couldn't get her eyes to open. But she pushed her words out.

"I love you too." she softly spoke.

Brian just faintly heard her over the medics trying to keep her alive. He kissed her forehead as he whispered sweetly to her. If she was going to die she would have to know his love for her. He thought about the girls following behind them in the car with Rose. Custody of Taylar probably resorted to a family member if Genisis passed. But he would beg and plead and offer his last to keep her with him. He'd need all parts of Genisis with him.

His thoughts came to a halt as the ambulance did and then they were rushing her to surgery. He was stopped from continuing any further and retreated to the waiting area. Rose walked in with Taylar and Riley. Taylar climbed on Brian's lap and he kissed her curls.

"Is Mommy going to die?" she whispered.

"No," he said firmly. "Mommy would never leave us. She just wouldn't. You and Riley are her life. But your family is going to want you to go with them."

Taylar shook her head and said, "No. I'm staying with Riley and you, Daddy. Can I?"

Brian wrapped his arms around her and she hugged him as she cried softly.

"I'll never let anyone take you girls away from me. I promise." he whispered.

Taylar nodded and he kissed her cheek. Genisis would make it. She had to.
