Chapter 21

Brian huffed out a breath as he walked up to Genisis's home.

"Here we go," he whispered to himself. He put a smile on and walked in the door as he called, "Where's my baby girl?"

He closed the door and saw Genisis holding a sleeping Riley. She patted Riley's back with one hand and he noticed she was wearing her engagement ring. Her other hand was bandaged and Sitra sat looking at her.

"What happened to you," Brian asked as he walked into the living room.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. She quickly blinked them away and looked at her bandaged hand before kissing Riley's forehead and laying her in her playpen. She turned to Brian.

"I broke Roman's jaw," she explained.

He gently grabbed her hand.

"Why didn't you tell me," she asked as tears filled her eyes again.

She blinked them away and he took her in his arms as he whispered, "I didn't want to be the cause of your hurt. Who did tell you?"

Sitra stood and raised her hand shyly as she answered, "Uh. I did. Sorry about all of this. But the doctor said her hand has healed well these last few months and the bandage is only needed for a couple weeks."

"Thank you," Brian said with a smile.

Sitra excused herself and Genisis turned Brian to face her.

"I love you," she confirmed.

"I love you," he said and crashed his lips into hers. He lifted her from her feet and spun with her.

She broke the kiss and laughed. He laughed as well and placed her back on her feet.

"So about Lisa," she began.

His smile faltered. She nodded and stepped away from him.

"I wanna talk to her," she said finally.

She picked up Riley and grabbed her keys, leading him out the door. She called to Taylar and she ran around the house with Baby. They piled into her Jeep and headed into town.

"So where does she be," she asked as she slowed on the main road.

Brian rubbed his neck and pointed to the diner as he said, "That's where she always catches me at."

Genisis nodded and pulled into an available space. The old Genisis would've let this slide and put up with it. But she was sick of losing her man and she was sick of letting females slide. It wasn't so much him sleeping with her. It was her continued harassment that no doubt took place one of the times their daughters were with Brian.

She looked back at Taylar.

"Watch your sister," she commanded as she grabbed her purse and exitted the car with Brian.

She sent Brian inside first. Immediately a slender white woman stood from a booth and walked over to him and tried to touch his face. That was Genisis's cue. She stepped in the door and walked over to Brian's side. She took his hand and looked to the woman.

"Lisa right," she guessed.

Lisa stepped back.

"That's me," she said with attitude.

Genisis smiled and extended her hand and Lisa shook it.

Genisis put her purse down as she said, "I'm Genisis. Even though you know who I am let me just tell everybody. Particularly women like you. I am Brian's fiancé & mother of his child. Now I will let this one time between you and him slide under the circumstances. But if you don't leave my man alone we will have problems. And to all other women if anything like what happened happens again you will deal with me and so will Brian. And let me tell you, even a marine can't handle a pissed off Genisis."

Lisa rolled her eyes and winked at Brian. Genisis stepped in her face.

"Are we gone have a problem," she asked letting her rage fill her eyes.

Lisa's fear crept into her eyes and Genisis smiled and held eye contact with Lisa as she said, "Baby. I don't think Lisa here wants these problems. Feel free to come eat at your favorite diner all you want. Bo will call me if I need to make my way down. Ain't that right Bo!"

The big Black man behind the diner said, "You got it, Gen!"

Genisis smiled and said, "Have a nice day Lisa. Bye everyone!"

The shop said bye and Brian followed her out the door without even looking at Lisa. He hopped into the passenger seat of Genisis's Jeep as she climbed in the driver side. She looked to him and smiled. He smiled nervously and watched her as she turned up the radio and headed toward home. Was she freaking bipolar now or something?

She pulled up at his home and Taylar ran off to the stables. Genisis got Riley out her seat as she said, "Hey there Mommy's baby!"

Brian couldn't help but smile as he watched Riley reach out to touch Genisis's nose. He followed them into the house and Genisis released Riley in her play area then shut the gate. She turned to Brian and smiled at his nervousness.

"I just have to make sure nobody takes you from me," she said as she ran her hands around his neck.

He smiled and wrapped his arms around her as he replied, "That is impossible. Do you still trust me?"

She hopped up, wrapping her legs around his waist as she replied, "With my life and my childrens'."

He smiled as he walked over to the couch. He sat down with her and she looked at her ring. She looked at him and smiled.

"Let's get married," she blurted suddenly.

He laughed as he said, "I plan on it. When can we start planning?"

She shook her head and took his hands in hers.

"No," she began. "I mean let's just do it. No wedding. No abnormally expensive dress. Just you and me saying 'I do'."

He smiled and kissed her lips before replying, "We don't have to have a wedding or expensive dress if I still get to meet all your family. Or do they not like the idea of you being with another white man?"

She caught the serious tone of his question. She looked into his eyes as she said, "They're not like that. They just want to know I'm happy, respected and cherished. We'll call them down for a cookout. Okay?"

He nodded and she kissed his lips. He held her tighter and kissed her deeper. She silently prayed her family didn't go too hard on him.
