***6 years later***

Brian stood over Roman along with JJ after four long months of searching for him. Which they'd told Genisis and the family that they were being deployed. He'd showed up at the ranch while Genisis and the girls happened to be out grocery shopping and Bryson had answered the door. Roman touched Bryson's head which caused Brian to call JJ for help finding and ending him.

Roman was a bloody mess as he curled up in the fetal position. "Please no more," he cried out wanting no more of the abuse Brian had been inflicting to him for the past twenty-four hours.

JJ sat in a nearby chair as he said, "I don't know man. Think he's learned his lesson?"

Brian smirked as Roman cried, "I have! Please! I won't bother Genisis anymore! I'll leave the fucking country! Just stop! Please!!"

Brian looked to JJ and they laughed. JJ said, "Ay. He's asking for it. Make it stop, Bro."

Brian grabbed his gun off the nearby table. It had never been fired. So there was no chance of them finding matching spent rounds anywhere connected to him. He cocked back the hammer on the revolver and Roman began crying hysterically and pissed his pants.

JJ smirked and nodded to Brian. Brian zoned into his war mindset, dissociating himself from the world and his emotions. He would feel no guilt about this kill. This was an action of war. His duty to his country, to his family. This was an enemy of the United States. BOOM!

The building fell silent. Brian's heavy breathing could be heard as he stood over his kill. JJ stood and went about collecting their supplies before stuffing them into a bag with a bunch of lead pipes and handing Brian his gun case and plane ticket back to Genisis and the kids.

***one week later***

Genisis stood at the stove stirring a huge pot of vegetable soup as a thirteen-year-old Taylar sat on the kitchen counter playing with her newest sibling, Bentley, who was almost two. She laughed as her twin brothers, BJ and Bryson, ran through the house playing with wooden swords that Brian had made them the day he got back from deployment to get them out of his work space where he was helping some contractors build his new horse stables.

"Mama," she called sounding like a southern belle. "I had a fight today in school. I told Daddy I'd tell you myself."

Genisis continued stirring the pot but looked at Taylar as she asked, "Why were you fighting, Taylar? Haven't I taught you better than that?"

Taylar hopped off the counter as she said, "I was playing with my friend, Reagan, but then her friend, Miranda ran over and said she shouldn't play with an 'ugly black girl'! You also told me don't let anybody talk about me in a way I feel is disrespectful especially because of my race. I thought she was being disrespectful... So I hit her in her face."

"Taylar," Genisis exclaimed.

"Then I jumped on her and kept hitting her," Taylar said a little more timidly.

Genisis put her hands on her hips as she said, "I have raised you to be a young lady. You are not going to go around fighting over words."

Taylar's eyes shot up to Genisis's as she said, "But you beat up Aunt Rose for calling us monkeys! Isn't 'monkeys' a word?"

Bentley cheered, "Monkey! Monkey!"

Taylar put him down and shooed him out of the kitchen as Genisis said, "That's different. I'm your mother. Nobody comes for my children."

Taylar scoffed but her frown quickly turned into a smile as she heard Brian saying, "That's my wife."

They turned to him as he removed his working gloves. He walked over to Genisis and kissed her lips, causing Taylar to fake gag. "What's for dinner," he asked glancing in the oven.

Genisis smiled as she said, "Well its getting a little chilly so I figured some soup and cornbread would be good tonight. Plus this is the only way BJ and Bryson will eat their veggies since they've been on veggie strike lately. And I made plenty so tell the workers to come get a bowl before they call it a day."

Brian was about to reply but Taylar said, "They always do. And Mama, why are you always cooking? I think I see you most in the kitchen."

Brian hugged Genisis from behind as she responded, "For one, I have kids that need feeding and as their mother that's my job. Not to mention your brothers, including Bentley, and your father eat like a starving army. For two, I feed the ranch hands because I can and it's not a bother. Plus why not be generous to the people who help keep this place going? And finally, I love to cook. So when I'm not cleaning after kids, out tending to the horses or being referee between y'all kids I'm in the kitchen to feed all y'all. Anymore questions Ma'am?"

Taylar shrugged as she said, "It was just a question. But okay, Mother. Daddy, can I take Whippet out now? I told Mama."

Brian nodded and Taylar ran out as Genisis shouted, "Stay close! Dinner's nearly ready!!"

Brian turned her to him as he said, "That is definitely your daughter."

Genisis giggled as he spanked her as he walked off looking for Bentley. She smiled as she stirred the vegetable soup and pulled out the cornbread. She walked to the door and rang the dinner bell so everyone would know dinner was ready. They all headed for the house, dropping whatever they were doing.

Genisis turned and went to get out some dishes as she thought over her life. In the past few years her life had really sprang uphill. Sure she wasn't a CEO or any type of major business woman like she thought she'd be at this time. But she did own half of every business Brian did and she had five amazing children with a man she loved. She was a housewife for the most part besides helping out around the ranch a little and training every horse Brian rescued. But amazingly she'd never felt more accomplished in her entire life. She was Mrs. Genisis Daughtry. Wife of Brian Daughtry and mother of five Daughtry children. And to Genisis and her Daughtry children... Life was perfect.
