# 31 I'M DYING WITHOUT YOU

Adrian's heart kept on beating violently since it was happy to meet Joan after a long struggle.

His eyes kept roaming around the room as it was in a hurry to see her.

Nicholas replied, "Barnaby had been to France for trade purpose."

Edmund looked at Adrian and he turned to Nicholas asking, "His daughter?"

Nicholas replied, "Oh Joan. She had been to London."

Adrian was shocked,( subconsciously) said "What London?"

Nicholas (looking at Adrian with questioning expression)," Yes she went back to London with the maid and her family."

Edmund interrupted the conversation (since he felt that Nicholas could mistake Adrian because as for Nicholas Adrian was a visitor to Norfolk. Edmund sensed that Adrian was upset and there was a possibility of him to blabber something which could reveal that Adrian was in search of Joan, which could bring a conflict though Joan's father was absent in that situation)

Edmund "London was filled up with plague still. Isn't it? "

Nicholas replied, "Yes, Joan was not going to stay there. She will be returning back here after visiting her mother's grave on her death anniversary."

Edmund asked, "She was blind right?"

Nicholas replied, "Yes, she didn't want to stay here at all. From the first day itself she used to ask her father to take her back to London. But her father kept on consoling her everyday, by saying that he would be taking her the next day. And Barnaby left to France to make a business dealing with the great Mercer of France, de la Guesle.

Joan fell sick after her father's departure to France. She refused to eat and we feared that she might fell ill. That's why we had sent her to London, so that she could feel good until her father returns home."

Edmund looked at Adrian and sensing the question which he wanted to ask, Edmund, "When did she leave?"

Nicholas, "She left yesterday. And she will be back here after two weeks."

Adrian stood up at that instant (he did it subconsciously, since his mind wanted him to rush to London as soon as possible since he realized that Joan would be staying in London for one or two days as per the schedule which was told by Nicholas )

Edmund rose up with Adrian (Edmund did so since he felt that Adrian was out of control, He clasped the hands of Adrian who was above to move, he did so since leaving a home suddenly in midst of a conversation was considered as a manner less activity.)

But Edmund managed the situation, "Sorry Mr. Nicholas, we just forgot that we had an important meeting with the priest of the church. We will meet you later." Saying he came out of the home with Adrian.

Edmund, "Okay Adrian you should start to London now. I'll make arrangements for it."

Adrian nodded and Edmund sensed that he was in hurry.
