WHEN LOVE BATTLES WITH DEATH [#Missiondesi]

#20 THE TRAITOR

Cyrus stopped at a point when he was about to reach the top of the hill since he recognized that Datis had been conversing with Amitis.

Meanwhile the two soldiers who were standing at the foot of the hill noticed a women hiding behind a tree. The soldiers rushed towards the tree in their horses. But the woman started to run away on seeing the approaching soldiers.

At that time one of the soldiers recognized her as the wife of Orus. Since both of the soldiers were aware of the treachery of Orus as well as the situation which has been prevailing for the past days, they chased her.

While running, the woman stumbled on a stone and fell on a thorn bush and the soldiers who chased her finally caught her and they tied her to a tree.

The soldiers stood guarding her there and they kept watching Cyrus who was standing near the top of the hill, every now and then.

In the meantime the Queen's body guard arrived at the palace of Artunis to handover the gifts which was sent from the Queen to Amitis.

By that time the body guard came to know about the arrival of Cyrus to the palace from the soldier in charge  . At once the body guard sent message to the Royal palace about the return of Cyrus to perspolis.

The king and queen where shocked about the arrival of Cyrus without any information and the King started immediately from the palace to Cyrus with his soldiers since he felt that something was wrong.

Cyrus hid his arrival purposely from the knowledge of the Royal palace since he suspected even the King and the Queen (his parents) as the persons who were behind the plan to kill Amitis and Artunis.

Cyrus listened to the conversation between Datis and Amitis.

Datis, "Amitis I think you are so excited. Wait for some more time. And you will become the princess of Menidia as soon as Cyrus marries you. Am I right (he sighed) I guess that you have been treated as the royal princess ever since after your arrival to the capital." saying he laughed out aloud.

(Cyrus sensed the evilness in his laugh.)

(Amitis stood quiet since she felt that Datis has been teasing her indirectly.)

Datis continued, "Actually I'm in need of explaining a truth to you, a truth which was 21 years old. My father had three sons including me and we were sent to do our duty to the Empire like everybody else. But we had a passion in our heart, a passion to become Emperors, Emperors of the great Menidia.

I excelled in every skill but I was kept second always because of your father Ochus.

One fine day we planned to murder that king who has been ruling Menidia till today,who stood as an obstacle for achieving our dreams. But your father ruined our plan by killing my two brothers.

Do you think that your father died while saving the king? (Datis smiled) no not at all.

This hand of mine (he showed his right hand) stabbed that faithful servant of that king to death. 

(On hearing the death of her father tears rushed from the eyes of Amitis  meanwhile the words of Datis made Cyrus to burn in anger.)

I suffered a lot to regain the trust of that king. I faced battles alone, not for Menidia but for me and for my brothers who died with a dream. I didn't want to bury my dream and that passion made me to face victories and that passion raised me to the position of the King's chief commander.

That king might have thought that I was working for him but I'll be proving him that my work was merely for my own benefit and not for any one else.

By that time your brother arrived to the capital for army training.

I tried my best to discourage him in each and every way but he was brave more than my expectation. I tried to expel him from the training but his friendship with Cyrus ruined my plans. But still I tried to kill him during his swimming training in the river but he escaped it.

Once I made arrangement to kill him while archery training but the arrow missed and it killed my one and only son, which shattered my hope to see my son as the Emperor of this great Menidia.

But I had another plan ,it was my daughter.I trained my daughter to impress that king and his wife.

I did so since I wanted to make my daughter the Royal Princess of this Empire. If my daughter is the Princess obviously I am the King (he laughed cruelly) I'm the King of the great Menidia.

But I don't know the thing which kept those royal family to remain unimpressed towards my daughter.

I made my daughter to impress Cyrus too but that Cyrus who has no interest to have relationship with women hated my daughter.

But I decided to get my daughter married to Cyrus by convincing that king. since I know,Cyrus won't hesitate even to die if the King asks him to do so why don't he accept to marry my daughter if the king asks him to marry my beautiful daughter.

I kept on convincing him by creating good opinion about the character, valor, beauty and goodness of the girls of our clan. I kept on reminding that King about the sacrifice of the warriors of our clan for Menidia for generations.

And finally I began to see the fruit of my effort. That King started to say that he wished to find out girl for Cyrus from our clan to get married. That king explained his decision as his sign of gratitude for our clan.

I was totally satisfied with the result of my effort and I went to my native place to offer a feast to my relatives and I invited them for the Royal wedding of my daughter with Cyrus.

And when I returned back to Perspolis, I went to the Royal Palace to talk about my daughter to that King and I was shocked to saw things which had been upside down.

I came to know that, Cyrus who had returned from the Yudush war had told his wish to marry a girl of warrior clan and the King along with the Queen had given his approval for the wedding.

I saw you at the spring festival. I came to know that you are the daughter of that filthy Ochus.

I thought to kill you from the very second of seeing you sitting beside the queen.

Don't you have sense to know your range? Are you the daughter of a person who was in a high rank? Who are you? You are nothing. More than everything you are the daughter of the filthy Ochus who destroyed the dream of my brothers. You and your family were experts in hypnotizing the royal family right? that's how you impressed Cyrus like your brother. 

(Amitis cried since his words pierced her heart)

 I hate to see your brother on the royal dine but this time my hatred became twice on seeing you with your brother on the royal dine. The children of that Ochus whom I hate the most.

And I felt that the things were going out of my control.

Then I arranged my servant Orus and his wife to kill you on the tower. But because of that Cyrus you escaped on that day. You know I haven't given even a hint to your brother that I'm the one who killed your father and I'm the one behind all the troubles which he had faced.

You will  be thinking the reason behind my confession. I just wanted to clear that I will not allow some one to destroy my plans. I'm not that much kind to allow some one to enjoy the fruits of my efforts.

So the Future emperor of Menidia (he smiled cruelly) don't get confused it's me. The great Datis had declared death penalty for the children of Ochus.

And my faithful servant Orus would have accomplished the death penalty for your brother Artunis (Datis laughed cruelly)

And now I would be accomplishing your death penalty now,Saying he drew his sword.

Amitis stood frozen since she was terribly hurt on seeing Datis as the one who murdered her father and brother. (She thought that Artunis was dead already at the battle field)

At once Cyrus rushed to the top of the mountain saying, "Datis don't you think that  it's not that much easy to accomplish your filthy passion and penalty?"
