Chapter 27

Melody:

I didn't go to church today... I just really haven't been feeling it ever since lucas and I had our falling out. I have been so sad and I don't know what to do. Life just isn't the same anymore since he left, its been sad, depressing, and I always feel like something is missing. I look out my window and normally I see bright sunny clouds and birds flying free, but now I always seem to find sadness somewhere. Like now looking outside there are birds chirping and sunny skies but then I see a little girl playing all alone on the street. Her hop scotch set up is getting messed up by the wind and her pig tails are in her face. I try to keep my head up and focus on Jesus but things are just dragging me down.

*beep* *beep*

Lucas 1:42- Mel Plz answer we really need 2 talk!

That's so weird, why would Lucas text me now?

Melody 1:43- Yes Lucas

Lucas 1:43- I went to church today... and it was amazing!!!

Melody 1:45- You have to be joking?

Lucas 1:45- No Mel I'm dead serious my life has changed.!

Melody 1:46- Meet me @ the park in 5

Lucas 1:46- K! I cant wait to see u

Confused, I run to grab my coat and head out the door. I almost out of my house when my dad notices my unusual frantic face and my hurry to leave the house.

"Mel sweety, whats with the running?"

"Dad, he went to church, lucas went to Church!"

"He did? I didn't see him?"

"He said he did I need to talk to him!"

"Well go but be careful."

"I will!"

Walking out our front door, I throw on some flip flops  on and head towards the park. While dating, Lucas and I always met at the beautiful park to talk or just to be with each other. Quickly walking down the street my blue t shirt dress is being blown in the wind. I put on my grey cardigan to block out some of the horrendous breeze, but yet some still manages to break through. The trees are blowing everywhere and see the tall pine trees at the park dancing in the breeze. As I take my seat on our old white bench that has the perfect view of the lake, I imagine what will happen when lucas comes. I listen to the chirping birds surrounding me and the roar of the wind, knowing something good will happen.

Completely lost in thought, I hardly notice Lucas take a seat next to me. I look up to see his blonde beach hair flowing in the wind, and his blue eyes more vibrant then normal. Maybe its his dark blue shirt paired with tan pants that are bringing out his eyes, or maybe its just his perfect white teeth. I realize I haven't seen him in over a month and It feels so good to look at him now. It feels so good to get lost in his eyes and sit so close. At this moment I know he's the one I want, no matter what he thinks about me and what I believe,  I know he is perfect for me.

"Lucas" I say in a whisper

"Mel, I've missed you."

"I've missed you too!"

"I cant do life with out you by my side."

"Lucas..." I'm cut off by his random yet perfect act.

In the middle of what I had to speak Lucas places his warm hand on the side of my face making me stop talking to see what's going on. Before my brain registers what's happening, I see Lucas slowly move towards my face. In what feels like an instant his warm soft lips are pressed against mine, my heart racing. I am so overwhelmed with happiness I continue to kiss him back. His hand moves from my face to down around my waist in a slow graceful motion. He takes his other hand and intertwines our fingers as we inch closer to one another on the bench. This lasts for what feels like eternity but then suddenly ends. Lucas pulls back with no words and an undescribable expression on his face. It almost seems as if hes happy but scared from what just happened.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it," he whispers to me

"Don't be sorry,"

"Mel, you are the one that I want, I want to kiss you everyday and one day stand infront of all your family and kiss you, right after we say I Do'"

"Lucas these past weeks have been torture with out you."

"Honestly Mel, these last weeks really hit me hard. I didn't think I would make it to this point in time. I wanted to end it all."

"Oh Lucas you aren't talking about what I think right?"

"I tried to leave this world..."

"Lucas no!"

"Yes sweetheart but Mary Texted me right as it was happening and I got to talk to her and everything was okay."

"Whos Mary?"

"Just my sister don't worry beautiful."

'Okay just checking"

"But anyways, that following weekend I went to church, I wasn't even planning on it, but it felt right."

"Lucas I'm so glad"

"Honestly I don't know why but it hit me so hard"

"This makes me so happy, I cant even describe to you."

"So beautiful, can we continue where we left off, I really miss you."

"I've missed you too! Yes please I would love to continue," 

"You know what I love?"

"What??"

"I love you"
