Chapter 4

Lucas

Finally it's lunch time! I'm so excited I hope I get to sit with Melody! She is just so beautiful and she seems so sweet. After she bumped into me she was just the sweetest girl in the world, and she can throw some killer jokes. The whole thing about shooting me oh gosh that was so perfect. Walking into the lunch room I go sit down with the usuals.

"So Lucas you missing your girl?!" Kyle snickers

"Really Kyle she's not my girl"

"I dunno you two seems to be flirtin' out in the hallway a lot"

Tiffany screeches "Luuucccaaas what is kyleeeee talking about?! You best be not cheeeeaaatttin' on me?"

"Seriously Tiff just stop! I told you we are done!" I scream back across the table.

"But you lovvvveeeee me! Don't lie I know you do just admit it!"

"Yah right! Just quit it!"

"Tiffany quit it Lucas doesn't like you, he like Melody!" Jonny says trying to help me out.

"Speaking of Lucas liking the new girl melody, aye Lucas, Melody looks like she needs some where to sit. You should invite her over!

OH MY GOSH! What should I do?Melody looks so lonely, should I invite her? Oh great now CrankyCathy is getting on her case. What to do, what to do? Fine I'll just do it!

"Yo melody there is an empty spot over here" I shout

She saw me! Oh yea she is walking over here! What should I say? Act cool, come on self, act cool. It's so hard to act cool when such a beautiful girl is walking toward you, my heart fights back. Oh my gosh! She is sitting right next to me now. She looks right at me and smiles so big. She has such a pretty smile, and she is always smiling so it's fitting. Oh I should probably introduce everyone.

"Here let me introduce everyone to you".....

"So Mel, how you liking the new school?" I nervously say as we walk to class.

"It's different, but seems like it has potential." Mel responds.

"Do you think you will be leaving anytime soon?"

"No father said we won't be moving till I graduate."

"Oh well that's really good!" I say excitedly

"Don't be to excited that's what he said last time too."

"Oh...."

"Yeah I try really hard to not get attached to anything because as soon as I do we have to leave again. I hate having to leave all my new friends!"

"Well hopefully you won't have to..."

"Yea hopefully."

We approach the class room, and I run and open the door for her. She brightly smiles and thanks me as she walks in. She takes a seat right in the front and even though I hate being in the front I sat down next to her. We sit quietly next to each other as I watch her reach into her backpack and get out a book. Man this girl loves to read! That's twice today I saw her hold a book. Should I just let her be or should I talk to her? Well I really shouldn't just sit here staring at her while she reads. I look up at the clock and class starts In 10 minutes, I don't think I have ever been this early to any of my classes. I sure am changing a lot for this girl. Is it even worth it! I mean she is just going to leave me in a few months like she said then none of this will matter. She said she doesn't want to get attached to people either! I can't change who I am for a girl I'm going to go sit in the back like I always do! I'm not changing for her!I stand up, grab my backpack and start to head towards the back.

"Lucas?" Melody says

"Yea," I irritatingly say back

"Where are you going?"

"I don't sit in the front I don't like it!"

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry! You don't have to sit up here with me, I just thought it would be nice to have a friend near by."

"Friend?"

"Yea aren't we friends? Oh my gosh we aren't! Oh I'm so sorry! I understand now! I just though cause of lunch and stuff we were but it's totally fine, I get it you were just being nice. Thank you I appreciated it!"

"No no no! That's not what lunch was! I really wanted to be your friend. I just didn't think you wanted friends"

"Well I didn't at first but you seem very nice and so did all the others"

"So we are friends?"

"Yea I would love that! And you don't have to sit here with me."

"No no I want to sit with you! There is no reason I wouldn't!"

Okay so maybe it's not so bad changing a little. I mean she is a beautiful girl, very sweet too! I can change for her! She's perfect I would be crazy if I didn't change.

"Thanks Lucas! I'm really glad you stayed!" She looks up from her book and whispers to me.

"Anytime" I whisper back
