Chapter 11

Melody

Oh my gosh! That was probably one of the best hugs I have ever had. My arms wrapped around Lucas as he pulled me close, nothing could have been better. As we walked to class together my mind couldn't comprehend the wonderful thing that just happened. I have a boyfriend, one guy devoting himself to me and it couldn't be any better.

My world felt so perfect like nothing could go wrong until I walked into class...

"Mel baby!! It's me Jonny!!" My ex from two schools ago shouts across the room.

"Oh hey!" I say as I walk over to him. He greets me with a hug and whispers in to my ear Ive missed you, "oh I've missed you too!"

"Uhh Mel who is this?" I hear Lucas say hesitatingly.

"Oh Lucas, umm this is..."

Jonny interrupts and says "The names Jonny, Jonny Clyde to be exact!"

"Oh well it's nice to meet you" Lucas responds.

"Jonny and I are just old friends" I say trying to reassure Lucas.

"Friends! Are you kidding we were straight up lovers back in 8th grade, you couldn't keep us apart."

"Oh well I guess you've gotten around huh Mel" Lucas laughs

"Uhh yea haha well um we better get to our seats. Nice catching up Jonny. "

"Talk to you later sweet cheeks"

Jonny?!? How could Jonny be here!!! Anyone but him!! I would rather have Joe be here! This is not good. Lucas looks so freaked out. We just started dating how could things already be failing. Oh no this is a disaster!

I take my usual seat next to Lucas and I can't stay focused. Class starts and my mind keeps wandering. Mrs. White keeps talking but I'm not grasping any of it, it goes in one ear and out the other. Every so often I glance over to Lucas and he seems so focused but at the same time it looks as if it is going right through him.

Class is ending and I'm freaking out. I have no clue what is about to happen and I don't know what to do.

"Class dismissed" Mrs. White says and I being to melt down inside.

"So Mel do you wanna explain anything to me," I hear Lucas say as I try to escape the awkward moment.

"I promise Lucas, Jonny and I that happened a long time ago nothing serious either."

"I dunno he seems very excited to see you,"

"I think he was just being polite. " I try to ease Lucas

But then "Mel!! Aren't you gonna show me around!?"

"Oh well um I just need to be going soon, I don't know I have time"

"Yo Jonny!" Lucas starts,"Melody is my girl now and I don't appreciate you flirting with her like that!"

"Whoa bro you and Mel! You've got to be kidding! You are so not her type she would never go for a filthy blonde like your self."

"Who you calling filthy blonde!? At least I'm not styling dyed black hair like you!"

"What do you mean it natural!"

"That can not be natural! You look like a vampire, the pale skin, the sinful dark hair, the blue eyes, seriously you look like a goth!"

"You look like a beach bum! That shaggy blonde hair against your tan skin, and don't even get me started on the hideousness of your eyes!"

"You have no right to be criticizing me! All I was trying to do is say stop flirting with MY GIRLFRIEND! Or else"

"Or else what?!? You can't do nothing!" Jonny says like a dare.

No more words are spoken and all I see is Lucas bring his arm back and then with all his power sock Jonny right in the eye. Jonny steps backward covering his eye and in one swift motion kicks Lucas in the gut. Lucas falls flat on the ground letting out a small, but manly scream. Not knowing what to do I sit a watch this all go down. Minutes go by and they constantly exchange punches.

I close my eyes several times and just pray and pray for God to give me the strength to stop this. I'm losing my temper, but I don't wanna say the wrong thing. I watch as the two get way out of hand and I can't take it any more.

I step right in between them and yell "Enough!!"

I fall straight to the ground because I was hit from both sides. I look up and watch as the two freak out questioning what just happened. As I lay here glad the fight is over I see this has just encouraged their fighting. Now they are screaming at each other blaming my fall on one another.

I stand up sick of all that happening and I yell "I'm done" and walk out of the room. I don't turn around, but I can hear the silence that slowly comes after I leave the room. I know I have left them both stunned but they are acting like children.

Almost to my next class I hear from behind "Melody! I need you!!"
