Chapter 20

Lucas:

*beep*beep*beep*

12:03pm

"oh crap!" I blurt out realizing what time it is. I was supposed to meet Mel at church 2 hours ago. She will never forgive me now! I just flipping got her back and now I'm gonna lose her over something stupid like sleep. Okay sleep isn't stupid, sleep is wonderful, but I shouldn't lose Mel cause of this. What am I going to do?

I grab my phone off the charger and look to see I have 3 missed calls from Mel and a bunch of texts from her too. I'm for sure going to lose her next time I talk to her... maybe I just wont talk to her. If I avoid her I avoid the conversation.

After I take a shower and get dressed I call Kyle to see if he can hang out. We haven't talked much since I started dating Mel.

"Hey bro!" I say

"Dude I'm like still sleeping why you up?

"My alarm went off"

"Wait did you go to church with Mel today?"

"uhh about that..."

"Lucas really are you trying to mess this up?"

"No, I overslept"

"Did you tell Mel that?"

"No"

"Lucas you are an idiot"

"what?! I didn't do anything. I don't want to lose her. "

"Well you are going to lose her if you just ditch her and don't say anything."

"How she will forget all about it."

"Uh Lucas this girls life is church, I don't think she will forget about it"

"Whatever ill see her tomorrow and everything will be fine. I have sweet talked girls into my life before I can do it again."

"Whatever you say Lucas but I doubt that's going to work"

"why aren't you up anyways, you are always at church on Sundays."

"I wasn't feeling it today I needed to sleep"

"Oh that's very Christian like Kyle"

"Lucas what have I told you before, I'm a Christian, I'm not perfect."

"I know bro just messing with you."

"You know Lucas that's your problem, you think you can say anything you want about anyone and everything will be fine, but dude come on you just sound like an idiot."

"Yo Kyle calm down!"

"Lucas I have told you so many times, you don't mess with people, specially in their faith."

"Well why you messing with my faith right now?! You are totally judging because I'm not all into religion like you are!"

"Lucas are you kidding me! Melody doesn't deserve you!"

*Phone call ended*

Who does kyle think he is? saying Melody doesn't deserve me! Its not like he could do any better. Ugh he will see! I will go to school tomorrow and Melody will be all  mine!

*Monday at school*

I get off the bus and I think I'm going to wait to talk to Mel until first hour. Here is my plan I'm going to sit right next to her and give her the look that makes girls melt. Then after I have her back after class ill pull her over in the hallway and ill just talk to her and make her forgive me. I might even throw in a little guilt trip action so I'm not pressured in to going to church. She is already in love with me I just have to keep it that way.

I walk into class late as always and I see that there are no seats left near Mel. You know that's okay, ill just sit in my usual spot then meet with her after class. I sit there and about halfway through class I notice Kyle isn't here today. That's really weird Kyle has never missed school, even in kindergarten he refused to miss any days.

Our teacher dismisses us and I start to walk after Mel when Mrs. White says, "Um Lucas may I speak to you"

"Sure" I say as I roll my eyes and walk toward her.

"Well Lucas as you well know school will be ending here soon and currently you are not passing my class. So I suggest if you plan on not taking this class for the third time you work on getting your grades up."

"You know Mrs. White I try so hard, I think I need a tutor, maybe that girl Melody.." I say in my most genuine voice.

"Lucas I was not born yesterday, you did this last  year with tiffany and all you learned is how to make out with every girl you see. I know you are smarter than this and you need to get your grade up YOURSELF" she preaches with extra emphasis.

"Ugh fine, but I really this Melody could help me, she is a nice girl."

"Exactly she is a nice girl with a kind heart don't go take advantage of her."

"What if I told you she is in to me, and you would be doing her a favor by letting her tutor me."

"Lucas I have told you once and I will tell you again. Don't hurt that young girl, she has so much potential and I don't need to see you ruin it by breaking her heart."

"Hey I cant help that I'm irresistible"

"Well young man just to let you know she may think your cute but you will get no where treating her like that!"

"Whatever see ya later teach!"

I walk out of the classroom baffled by the thought that my teacher thinks she knows what's best for me. I can make my own choice I know what's best for me and I know Melody loves me. She will fall right into my arms as soon as I talk to her.
