Jay's POV
"That's not fair!" I jumped out of my seat and looked Alby straight in the eyes.
"We all agreed. Even Newt." My blood boiled. I wanted to be a runner, I needed to be one. Now that I was not allowed to they were going to make me a Slicer. It was the other job I was good at other than running and Med-Jacks.
I ran out of the Homestead, but fell because of my leg. I was not quite healed yet, and couldn't run either. Tears ran down my face. It's not fair!
That's when I remembered, the girl. The odd girl I found that ran off with a Griever. I hadn't told anyone what really happened out there, but no one asked.
"Jay, it's for the best." Minho was standing behind me.
"Minho, I have to go back out there, just one last time. I saw something that day, and just need it clarified. I promise I will be careful and take it easy. Just one last run," I got up and looked at him longingly.
"Don't tell Alby. We leave at dawn." Minho sighed and walked away. He was easily convinced. I made my way to my bed. The aching in my leg continued, but I could manage.
Tomorrow I needed to find that girl. That Griever Girl.
