Welcome my butt. This is no welcome home; the Scorch is a desolate wasteland that kills everything and anyone in it. The sand running around everywhere. Freezing cold at night, and like hell in the day. A true and absolute desert.

My skin was dry and I was begging for water. Less than one month ago I was put into this death trap. No sign of my friends or family. Just a wasteland of nothing.

My knife dragged in the sand. Just a little longer until I get to the city. I saw the buildings in front of me. Hoping that Jorge and Brenda were in there.

Before I could even get to the door, I blacked out.

I woke up to cold hands touching me. Cranks laid around me. They watched me, but did not hurt me. They aren't pass the Gone yet. Cranks past the Gone would have shredded me into pieces already.

I grabbed my knife, got onto my feet, and pointed the knife at them. "Back away, I don't want to hurt you." They just stared at the knife in awe. I reached for the doorknob and walked in. Immediately I locked the door.

My breaths were heavy and deep. I screamed loudly to relieve stress. Tears ran down my face. I wished so badly to live the life Newt and I were living before in London.

I want my parents back. My friends, dog, home, everything, but I was never going to get that back. With the Flare, it is impossible to get any of that back. I sat in a corner and continued to cry.

Some one touched my shoulder. "Come with me." The voice I could not recognize, but they seemed sane if they could talk. I got up and walked with the person.

Cranks lurched out on each side of me, until we reached a door. When we walked in the person turned on the lights. It was Brenda.

"Brenda!" I reached in and gave her a hug.

"Jay! What are you doing out here? I thought W.C.K.D. decided to keep you at the center." Brenda and I worked together in the W.C.K.D. facility. When I blacked out in the Maze, I woke up with all of my memories, and none of my friends around.

"Brenda, where is Jorge?" Brenda smiled and commanded me to follow her.

We went up flights of stairs with people laughing, drinking, and fighting. This place must have been a surviving place for survivors. Brenda explained that the Cranks in the front are their guard dogs. She grabbed me a bottle of water and we finally were at the top floor.

"Jorge!" Brenda had a small raspy voice, but she still was the same person I remember.

Jorge had grown a moustache and beard. He was getting gray heads, but he still looked like a leader. Jorge turned around and looked at me in confusion.

"Jorge, do you remember me?" He probably did not. My hair was shorter and I wore the same clothes i wore in the Maze. I had scratches all over me and my face was dirty. When I arrived in the Scorch I cut my hair with my knife. It was now a jagged cut hair style that was to my shoulders. The dust and dirt had caused my hair to go darker.

"I don't recall, muchacho." Jorge folded his arms.

"It's me, Jay. Remember I worked with you and Brenda at W.C.K.D. They put me in the Maze, and then one day I woke up in the Scorch. Probably, an attempt to kill me." I laughed to myself. Jorge's eyes widened and a grin began to grow on his face.

"Jay!" He opened his arms and ran over to hug me. Jorge watched over Brenda and I in the facility. He was like a father to us. "Where have you been heading?"

"Anywhere, I just have been trying to find you two. I either thought you were in the Scorch or dead." We sat down in chairs in Jorge's office.

"Well, you found us, and we aren't dead, muchacho." Jorge smiled and folded his arms again. Clouds and thundering began outside. "Looks like another storm. Where you caught in any of them?" Jorge looked out the window.

"No, lucky me I guess. I saw a few cranks, and oldy heard a gunshot. You really wouldn't think to hear a gunshot in the middle of nowhere. Also, a burg flew over me at one point." That was a really wierd thing.

I decided to lay on one of the couches and heard screaming come from outside. The screaming went on for what felt like hours, but only just around one. Then another hour later yelling began. Someone is outside. I layed on the couch and closed my eyes.

"Brenda, the pets are going crazy!" One of the survivors yelled this. Brenda ran past by me and down the stairs. I sat up on the couch and played with my medallion. I found it on my neck when I woke up. It was an eagles claw. It had an eagle head carved on it. The only thing my father gave to me before W.C.K.D. came to take Newt and I.

There was yelling and laughing. Everyone came up and where surrounding someone. I got up and walked over to Jorge, who was yelling at them.

"I want to know three things. Who are you? Where are you going? And how can I benefit?" Jorge is known for asking people that. He even asked the new kids in W.C.K.D. I laughed a bit.

I heard some fighting and yelling. There were voices, but I could not figure out who they were.

"Well, you guys are worth something." I walked closer to Jorge.

"What's going on?" I finally was in front of Jorge. He had a smirk on his face. Stop showing off Shank. I still at times used Glader terms.

"Jay, say hello to our guest." He turned me around and my heart sank. It was the Gladers. Thomas, Minho, and even Newt. There were more, but those are the ones who caught my eye.
