I sat in the car with Kayla as we drove to our local shopping centre. I tapped my foot to the beat of the music blaring from her speakers, gazing out the window as I did so.
Within seconds, the radio presenter came onto air and announced the next song to be played. My face slightly lit up when I noticed it was "Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots. I kept tapping my foot but I soon stopped as Kayla hurriedly switched the station over.
"I hate hate hate that song!" She exclaimed as she tried to find another station to listen to. I didn't say anything although I was slightly disappointed to learn that my best friend wasn't into one of my favourite bands. Still I decided against mentioning it as the last thing I wanted to do was upset her.

We arrived at the shops within the next ten minutes. I hopped out of the car and we made our way together to the shops once Kayla had locked her car.
We decided to check out all of the clothing stores as we had our Leaver's Ball next Friday and so I only had 6 days to find a dress for it! Naturally, Kayla was way ahead of me and had already gotten her dress way ahead of time and so I was using her as my personal shopper.
"What about this?" Kayla asked as she lifted up a neon pink, strapless cocktail dress. I shook my head no, there was no way in hell I was wearing something so bright.
"Okay, okay! If you're gonna turn down everything I say..." She sighed putting the dress back on the rack.
"I'm sorry, I just want something a little more...formal I guess?" I responded, not really knowing myself what I was after.

After endless hours of walking around each and every clothes shop, trying desperately to find an outfit, I finally found one which suited me perfectly. I stepped out of the changing room and looked in the mirror, Kayla was sitting beside me and smiling at me.
"You look amazing!" She said excitedly, I smiled at her and then smiled at my reflection, I felt amazing in this dress and I was really happy with myself.

After a long day of shopping, we decided to head to Starbucks and grab a drink for a little relaxation.
I sat there clutching my juice blend as I watched Kayla sip from her Frappucino. I then smiled to myself slightly as the radio began to play Twenty One Pilots again and this time Kayla couldn't switch it off. I began to sing under my breath but sadly this was not the best idea I had had.
"Amanda?" Kayla spoke, "you don't actually like this band do you?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, a little taken back by her question.
"They're awful! You have to agree right?" She asked, concern in her voice.
I swallowed and nodded, "yeah no, I don't really like them. The song just got stuck in my head from earlier so you know..." I drifted off to prevent myself from lying any further.
I couldn't tell the truth to her, there was no way I was going to lose my friend, especially since beforehand I didn't really have many friends as it is.

It was far too risky.
