I sat on top of my suitcase and grabbed the zipper firmly with my fingers and proceeded to pull the piece of metal towards me in order to close the case and therefore seal all of my possessions inside. I exhaled at the struggle as I finally managed to close the case. I fell onto my back and stared up at the ceiling for a few moments, taking in my now half empty surroundings around me. It was so hard for me to come to grips with the fact that within a few hours I would be on a flight to Florida to go to warped tour, meeting my favourite bands and seeing them perform. It had always been a big dream of mine and all of a sudden it was becoming a reality, something that was so hard to come to terms with but that didn't mean that I wasn't happy to try.
I got up off of my suitcase and pulled the handle up and locked it into place, proceeding to pull the case along with me as I came to the staircase. With patience, I hauled the case down each step until I finally reached the bottom.
I looked into the kitchen and smiled at my mother who was still talking to the editors.
"Ready." I stated with an excited smile plastered on my face.
Everyone exchanged looks and then Brian stepped forward.
"We will let you two say your goodbyes." He spoke up, nodding towards my mother and then looking back at me.
"We will be outside when you're ready to go."
With that Brian turned on his heel and followed the rest of the editors out of the front door, closing it gently behind him.
I glanced at my mother quickly before running to her and engulfing her in a warm hug. I could feel her smile into my shoulder as she wrapped her arms around me and brushed my hair with one of her hands whilst the other stroked my back warmly.
"I'll miss you." I told her honestly, it was true, I definitely would miss her, she was my mother after all.
"I'll miss you too sweetheart." She responded quickly, giving me one last hug before releasing me. I smiled at her one last time before turning around to head to the front door.
"Make sure you message me! I like to make sure you're okay!" She called out to me as I opened the door.
"I will, I promise." I spoke as I gave her a warm smile, and with that I left the house behind me, closing the door as I headed to Brian and the rest of the group.

I hopped onto the bus and took a seat in the back with a couple of the editors. The others sat in front of us and then in the drivers seat was Brian. Of course this wasn't the tour bus he spoke of, this was just a regular mini bus type. I assumed that the tour bus would be there for us to stay in when we arrived to Florida. I didn't mind at all, even if it was a little cramped. I was just happy that I had won this contest. It was very rare that anything good happened to me and so all of these events soon started to feel like a cruel trick that was being forced upon me, I was on edge that a hidden camera crew was about to jump out at any time and shout that I had been pranked or something along those lines.
"Hey guys..." I spoke up shyly, all of the editors turned to face me, all except Brian of course, who had his gaze securely fixed on the road ahead of us.
"I was just curious, why did you choose me to win?" I asked with a general interest. I wasn't pining for attention, nor was I digging for a confidence boost. I was just genuinely interested as to why I had been chosen for such an amazing opportunity.
For a few seconds, everyone was quiet, I guess they weren't very sure on the decision themselves and so this made me start to instantly doubt myself and my abilities. I started to pick at my fingernails, something I do when I get anxious. I continued to do so until finally I was stopped by Brian's response.
"Because, your video was the most entertaining out of them all and we did really enjoy your voice. It's art."
I blushed slightly at his comment, the others all nodded in agreement and so I thanked him for the compliment.
I could tell that this bus ride was only going to go up from here.
