DanI heard a piercing scream come from behind me, followed by a loud thud. I brushed it off at first, laughing at the thought of Phil tripping over his shoelaces and bumping into something. I kept running until I couldn't physically run anymore.
I stopped to hide behind one of the wall barriers and kept a close eye out for Phil, getting my laser gun ready for the attack. I waited and waited, the vast smile on my face slowly deteriorating.
I carefully stepped out from behind the barrier and looked around for Phil. Seeing no sign of him, I tentatively head back to the spot where I thought I heard him yell out.
After close inspection, I found a wall near the scene of the crime with a dent in it. Sticking out from one of the cracks in the wall was a small slip of paper. Greedily, I removed it from the wall and ripped it open, horrified at what could have happened to my sweet little soul mate.
Stay away from Phil, you abomination.
That was all that the note had said. I was expecting the voices to lash out at me once again for ignoring Phil's cry for help and that it was all my fault.
But the surprising fact was that there were no voices this time. I had just realized that they actually hadn't been present at all since my little excursion on the top of the building.
Wait a minute.
I had finally understood what happened on the top of that building.
I hadn't jumped off the building.
But the voices had.
I was finally going to put this behind me. For mine and Phil's sake. A sudden determination and craving for revenge.
I'm going to rescue P. And I was going to do whatever it takes to get him back.
