I saw you quite frequently after that day at the park: at the grocery store, at the diner, just walking down the street. It seemed like everywhere I went, you went. I started to think I was losing my mind, if I’m being honest. Seeing you around was both good and bad.
I was glad that you were with your mom again. She needed you a lot more than you realized, and I know that she was thankful to have you home again. I was also glad because your presence just brought some sort of life to this depressing city. Seeing you smile again just brought so much light to the place.
There was really only one downside to you being back: it hurt. Every time that I saw you I just wanted to run up to you. I couldn’t do that though. It would have been weird. We weren’t us anymore. We were just Beckett and Emery; two people who were living two completely separate lives.
I wished that it could be different.
I saw you in the diner one day. You ordered a vanilla coffee and on the cup I decided to write you a little note.
Welcome back, Beckett. Home Sweet Home. We’ve all missed you…I’ve missed you.
Forever & Always,
Emery.
