I guess you could say that things worked out for us. I’m happy and you say you’re happy (I hope you’re genuinely happy, because if you aren’t I’m not exactly sure what will happen).
I saw you today at the end of the aisle. You looked beyond handsome in your tux; your hair was as messy as it always is and I couldn’t help but smile at that. Even on your wedding day you were still Beckett. Plain and simple. I could feel the joy welling up inside of me as I saw you waiting there for me. You were crying slightly when I finally reached you at the end of that (too long) aisle.
I’ve waited so long for this you whispered as you took my hand and my heart leapt.
Me too I laughed through the oncoming tears. We proceeded to say our vows and when you finally kissed me I felt a million little butterflies burst into my stomach.
Mr. and Mrs. Beckett Walker. I liked the way it sounded. After so many years of waiting I was finally Emery Walker.
You grabbed my hand tightly in your own as you walked me back down the aisle.
Looking back on it all, I guess our story isn’t really all that amazing or special, but it’s ours and I kind of like that. We had to go through a lot to get where we are today, but it worked out for us.
I guess there are just a lot of secrets to New York--we’re just the lucky ones who eventually figured it out.
