After that things changed for us again. It was in a good way this time, though. You were always able to make me smile (maybe too much sometimes) and your mom was happy too. I guess she had been bugging you about us for quite some time.

I was happy to see that you didn’t really change all that drastically. You were still Beckett Walker--optimist, dreamer, lover of fictional characters, and lovely. Very, very lovely.

I guess I was still the same Emery, too. I was still afraid of the future and what it was going to hold, I was still lonely, I was still broken, and I guess I was still a mess. I liked how you liked me anyway, despite my many, many flaws. I liked how you called me beautiful even when I thought I looked terrible, and I liked how you would hold my hand when I was afraid. We worked together perfectly. I guess that was just us, though, and it was all I needed.

The little things were what made us work.
