I spent a lot of time with you at your parents’ house after that.

Your mom even invited me to spend thanksgiving with your family and I gladly accepted. You just smiled. I loved your smile a whole lot--there was something so honest about it; something that made me feel like everything was right in the world. I felt like I could accomplish anything, so long as you were standing beside me, smiling that smile.

Thanksgiving started out pretty hectic; your mom and aunts and grandmother were trying to finish cooking the dinner. I was sitting with you on the couch--your dad and uncles and cousins sitting all around us. The football came was playing on the TV and there were shouts from your uncles every time their team scored a touchdown.

I felt sort of out of place sitting there with your whole family (I had never been to a real thanksgiving dinner before, but you didn’t know that. I really should have told you sooner).

I think you could tell how awkward I felt, because you pulled me close into your side and kissed my hair. I love you Emery Davis you whispered into my ear. And I am so thankful for you.

I felt a small blush appear on my cheeks before I leaned my head onto your shoulder. That was the first time someone had told me they were thankful for me--and I was so blessed by that. So blessed by you.

As your uncles started to cheer loudly at the screen, I smiled, because I realized that I had scored the biggest touchdown of them all. Because I had you.
